Hotel Caledonian Hilton

The location is very good: It is in the middle of the city center, with a bit of luck from the room and a great view of Edinburgh on the Castle (approx. 13 minutes walk from the castle) and stumble upon it - as I'm almost anywhere in Edinburgh/in the most beautiful pubs, bus to the vicinity of the hotel a blend of traditional and modern elements.

We thought the service is top notch, and the Hilton thoroughly lived up to it. Received a very nice German receptionist. You really the needs of the eyes. When we arrived there was a warm welcome - it could expect way almost all of Scotland - and a free room upgrade. We mentioned short in the lobby more than that we love to come back later in the bar a real Scotch whisky wanted to drink. We were surprised that it has any of the Serviceangestellen managed and this was an hour later knew one hour later back down from the room in the lobby and we were certainly not alone in the hotel. Friendliness, helpfulness and service was capitalized here, which we found great. Also at Stadtauskünften about all sorts of they helped. We found the bellboys, as good as it is in many other hotels. We were put out of our room at 12 noon rooms - we didn't have a flight got in at 18 :00 with Lufthansa back to Frankfurt am Main. The suitcases could store in the hotel without problems.

As the only thing I can talk about the breakfast, that was extremely rich and delicious. The restaurant seemed to be extremely clean and very hygienically and constantly the impression that even in the breakfast room would sit in an interesting museum. The atmosphere was a bit hectic, what didn't bother us. You will run from the reception to the table and then takes no 30 SEK until someone came and one to ask tea, coffee or orange juice. Breakfast was offered in the form of a buffet.

I guess that the hotel has a swimming pool, but we didn't visit. We did not indeed have dinner, but we noticed we in the Abendsaal somebody classic to eat piano music. We have spent most of my time out the entertainment in-town, therefore, I can't describe here.

As already mentioned: We have a free room upgrade, which of course we loved, after which we can a breathtaking view of Edinburgh Castle. The rooms are in a typical old Scottish style, as is the whole hotel itself, what atmospheric also good for the country is suitable. The bathroom was the room, the modern decor. There was definitely no old elements found, which is good because after a 5 -Tagesrundreise through Scotland with partly old hotels bathrooms not always pleasant, I was glad again a high-tech large bathroom. side comment we could even in the bathroom, of the city and of the castle look again, which was a nice touch.

The 5 -star hotel was divided into Edinburgh outstanding in the old buildings and is each case well worth a visit. The hotel the next time I would go back from Germany want to book, you know you the cheaper option than on site. One last tip: Although our room upgrade when we got free Goody, so I would want to book next, because they probably only in better rooms with views of the castle presented. In our period in March, the about 35 euro per room, which I fair price steep for a nice room with nice view. The price performance ratio was otherwise good (45 euros per person per night with breakfast) weather ... ? Na what do you say in Scotland. It was cold to cool and sometimes rainy. But that was usual and also from Scotland and I personally would also no 25°C in the shade with a permanent sunshine expect. Who travels, know that also in the rule. Of course the chance of rising sun and warmer weather in the summer. Advantage to staying at the March: early departures are generally with a bit of luck much cheaper than during the main season and they don't just totgetrampelt, if you are in the city in the attractions.
