A charming and relaxing visit
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AOur rooms were simply but nicely decorated, clean with very comfortable beds and a peaceful, quiet ambience. Typical continental breakfasts served in a glass enclosed porch looking out onto the garden. Our host was gracious and generous and served us a delicious meal at our request one evening. We thoroughly enjoyed hikes in the woods around the chateau as well as playing tennis and petanque. St Jean du Gard is a delightful little town where Robert Louis Stevenson finished his trek across the Cevennes with Modestine the donkey. I recommend Hotel Chateau de Cabrieres without hesitation.
Location
Lovely with plenty of interesting excursions in the area.
Francois speaks excellent English and was an attentive, friendly but not intrusive host.
Gastronomy
As mentioned the breakfasts were typical continental breakfasts and the evening meal he prepared and served for us what very good.
Sport & Entertainment
As mentioned we played tennis and petanque. Due to the unusually cold weather this year the pool was not yet opened.
Room
As mentioned above our rooms were clean. very comfortable and large. The building, with its interesting history is old but wears its age well. For us, this added to its charm.
