Very nice hotel in the center of Copenhagen
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel is very nice. It has two very nice and cozy lounge rooms, which look like a mix of a English library and living room, with a lot of books, very comfortable chairs and a TV. The people at the reception a very friendly and professional. There are two Internet terminals, which seem to be for free. Guests, which booked via internet, will get Wireless LAN in the room for free. The Hotel makes a clean and tidy impression. The room to store the luggage after checking out is very small and when we were there extremely full, so we literally had to press or stuff in it.
Location
The hotel is located four minutes walk from the central station. It's in a quite street with lot's of other hotels. If you go to the end of the street, the Red Light district starts. But you won't notice it, if you don't go there. Near the hotel is the bus line No. 26, which takes you to the center of the city or to Valby, where you can visit the Carlsberg brewery or the Nordisk film studios (tour through the studios only on weekends and not in July). Tivoli is also very near and to the shopping streets it's about 12 minutes by foot.
The staff was very friendly and professional. Even with difficult questions, they could give you useful answers. Everybody speaks very good English.
Room was cleaned every day. Sometimes the cleaning lady wanted to start cleaning even before we went to breakfast! So, if you want to sleep a little bit longer, put a "don't disturb" sign at the door.
Gastronomy
The breakfast was above average. The breakfast room is quite narrow, so it's a little bit problematic, if it's very crowded. But the food is really okay and they have coffee machines, from which you can chose different types of coffee.
There is also the possibility to sit outside in the yard.
Sport & Entertainment not available
Room
The size of the room was absolutely okay for two person. The bath is not so big, but also okay. The only thing is, that they could have put there some boards, where you can put your things. But this is only a minor complain.
The room was very clean and nice. We had a room to the street, but this was no problem, as the windows were blocking the sounds from the street, which is quite anyway. There's another hotel on the other side of the street, so I would recommend to close the curtains, if you are running around naked ;)
The TV has only danish stations, which is okay, because they showing movies in the original with danish subtitles. We also discovered a hidden little DVD-Player in the room.
Tips and recommendations
If you go to Copenhagen be aware, that food and especially alcoholic drinks are VERY, VERY expensive. Also, most museums and galleries are closed on Monday. If you go the Tivoli, I would recommend to go there in the evening. It's far less crowed and it has a beautiful illumination.
Some destinations (like Nordisk Film Studios or the Danish Film Institute) are closed in July, which was really a pity.
