Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A ABasically, I can recommend the MLC Penelope, but I wouldn't go there again. This is partly due to Djerba, on the other hand, due to the hotel. The hotel wants to give the impression of a modern touch, but you can see in every corner that the equipment is old. The renovation is, in some areas, managed well (rooms, lobby / bar, spa), but isn't in others out: for example, main restaurant (especially outdoors), Restaurant (wooden chairs are already standard in other MLC), beachbar.
The standard is like 20 years ago, unfortunately. By the pool and at beach you're being served in (disgusting) plastic cups and that there is no real fruit juice, not even for breakfast. And I'm not talking about fresh-squeezed fruit juices, but these were some sort of artificial concentrates, which you had to get yourself out of juice dispensers.
There were many cats, which doesn't bother me but it would be in the best interest of everybody if there was something like a cat station, which exists in other hotels.
Now, I'm already at the end of my criticism: The food was good, staff very friendly and eager. There were no communication problems, everyone had a badge, you could see what languages the person spoke. The beach and the ocean were wonderful, you can make beautiful long beach walks.For the price we paid, the MLC Penelope is a good choice.
