A good deal isn't worth your sanity
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AI arrived here on June 12th (my 30th bday) along with my husband and my mother whom this was a gift for her 60th birthday for a 7 day trip. We arrived at the hotel around 11:30am on a saturday and we had to wait for our room assignment until 3pm (no big deal, we just hung out at the beach till then and ate lunch at the buffet restaurant). We returned to get our room assignment only to get to the room to find a puddle of water next to one of the beds under an air conditioner that (according to the rm attendant) had been serviced a few times but still kept breaking down. I was prepared for this having read some of the previous reviews about 24hrs before my own departure. We calmly requested another room with a working air conditioner, 2 hrs later (as the hotel began to fill up with locals and timeshare visitors), we were assigned another room with a broken air conditioner (2 more rms later) they finally put us in a timeshare room overnight since they had no other rooms available. The next day we waited until the late afternoon (due to checkout times), they had promised to upgrade us to a new room with oceanview due to the inconvenience however it was all lip service and we just took the standard room we were offered to avoid any further annoyance or need to change rms for a 3rd time for a 7 day trip. This room had NO TOWELS! we called 2x over an hour to get towels until I finally went down to the front desk and requested towels in person to be delivered. 5 hrs later upon returning to my room at 10 45 pm THERE WERE STILL NO TOWELS. I angrily marched down to the reception and demanded they deliver the towels to me right where I stood immediately. They insisted on delivering them asap to the room so I obliged however 30 mins later (almost 12am) we get 3 towels, no washcloths or hand towels. We complained to the front desk the next day and the "concierge" upgraded us to a villa suite (which we really didn't want since this would be our 4th move out of the 6 rooms we had to inspect ourselves before settling in). We are currently in this room as of last night (and there were micro ants in the bed) hence it is 11:43 pm and I am still up afraid to sleep with the bugs. This is clearly the best they have. The food is disgusting. The service is even worse. The towels at the beach are never available and smell like mildew. Several of the rooms we had to visit before agreeing to sleep in them smelled like mildew as well and the air conditioners were not working properly or at all. Even though the price was reasonable, It would've been better spent elsewhere. Do not come here if you are accustomed to 5 star service even if the the hotel is reasonable rated. This hotel does not do anything to go above and beyond. They offer the bare minimum and are hard pressed to proactively come up with compensation to make a mends. Idwill never stay at this hotel again. The timeshare ppl are especially rude and disrespectful. Calling out inappropriate things to me in spanish even as I passed by hand in hand with my husband (unbeknownst to them i speak fluent spanish) and more than once had to put people in their place. Apparently a white man & a black woman in DR = a prostitute for hire (& I thought the US was bad). Really sad since I speak 3 languages, hold a college degree and own 2 businesses. All in all, if you are used to professional, courteous attention to detail at the least, this hotel is not for you. I eagerly await my departure in 2 days and leave wondering why I never tasted any good Dominican criole food of all the meals included. Why 2 restaurants were often closed. Who the owner is and why he doensn't care about the state of his hotel and is he giving anything back to this community of hardworking ppl. I can't wait to get back to Jersey and forget this trip ever happened. Most of the vacationers we met here shared similar horror stories. If you have already bought your tickets... I IMPLORE YOU TO SUCK UP THE CANCELLATION FEE AND GO ELSEWHERE!!!! NOt worth the money, the hassle or the time... SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! A good deal isn't worth your sanity... Run... Do not Walk away form this hotel.
Unfortunately still here & Sincerely ready to leave,
