Hotel Corissia Princess
Hotel review Hotel Corissia Princess
Positive aspects, but still needs some improvement *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWell kept and clean tiny room with a working toilet, shower and decor. The shower (room 214) didn't shut completely. At the time when we stayed there, there were mainly German-speaking guests in the hotel. Location: far away from everything. 1h40 minutes from the airport Heraklion, Chania-airport is of course very much closer. If you come in autumn, as expected, that is nothing happening. For lovers such as us of pre- and off-season just right.
For trips to Chania, Iraklion, Rethymno there is a bus, 10 minutes by foot. In the summer season, take the same bus stop on the main road from which buses depart to the Samaria-Canyon and to other attractions. Of course; the Incoming Agency offers a wide arrange of all-inclusive programs and a lot of vacation highlights. The beach lies directly before the door. Because of bad weather we could not use it and had to drive several times in this week over the mountains to the south, where you have to expect strong winds (at the end of October / beginning of November).
Service: we wrote two e-mails for information about the surroundings but we received no reply. There appears to be no sense in using the e-mail address on the homepage. A call to Berlin is then necessary. Very friendly staff. The hotel can even afford a guest attendant (Giannis), who spoke perfect German and offered small-talk from beginning to end. In the front desk mainly English is understood, even if one could communicate in German. For complaints a form was provided, at the end of the trip you were asked to rate the hotel.
With the cleaning maid, we were not very happy: on day two we were given instead of the double bed-cover (= sheet) only one single bed-cover. And from day 3-6 we were only given three towels (bath towel, towel) in the room. It wasn't a problem, but just din't seem right.
Eating:
breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, varied, high-quality and tasteful. Once during lunch, the lamb chops didn't convince us in any way. Decor not great (compared with Turkish hotels of the same category), but lovingly made. The tables are not made to work for people, who have long legs. If you, as a full-sized man are sitting, your legs must buckle under the table, because a board under the desk top the table limits to the floor. Absolutely change it!
Sport & Recreation:
To choose from, because of the off-season and because of the bad weather, there was free of charge (usually extra costs): A steam room, jacuzzi and one 6 meter pool on the ground floor, as well as a swimming pool on the first floor, with a lot of guests, since half of the rooms of the hotels in this pool area lead to it. The hot tub was defect four out of six days and was not repaired before our departure and no explanation was given.
The changing cabins didn't have seating, the tiles of the changing cabins were soapy and thus slippery. No massages were offered in Autumn 2011, even though the hotel was full! The beach directly in front of the hotel has some sharp rocks scattered over it. Overall, the nine or more kilometer long beach (the longest of Crete) has better access to the beach than our hotel. Moreover, it is very small (from the road to the waterline). Showers, umbrellas, chairs: everything available, but due to adverse weather we couldn't use them. Rooms small room with balcony, clean, only five years old (according to the brochure). Television with significant acoustic problems, but a large amount of German channels. Safe against a fee, telephone, air conditioning. Completely great: wireless Internet in the room (in any case 214) and at the front desk. In the restaurant and Corissia Park there is wireless, everything free of charge.
Tips & recommendations:
Bring laptop, netbook, smartphone: free wireless Internet.
Time of the year to travel: never in autumn. There are a lot more hotels on the south coast. Rental car in line with Ethon order. Worked great. Gasoline prices surprisingly expensive (compared with Germany 2011).
