The end of the season-on the decline? *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe stayed in the last week of October 2011 for a week at Corissia Princess. We booked the hotel because of the good reviews. This is not comprehensible though. The hotel is, as we have seen, not a four star standard. The reasons for this are firstly the food. The breakfast was fine, but the dinner didn't work out as we had expected. Fish and meat of poor quality, not very presentably prepared, partly not warm enough. Almost every evening the same salads, hardly any variation. One could get the impression, that due to the forthcoming season at the end of the day, the freeze had to be emptied. The pool on the first floor of the hotel needs to be renovated over the winter. Many tiles in the pool are missing. Unpleasant odor at the front of the hotel (plumbing?) and also in the bathroom of the room we had. The dining room, together with the corissia park, has the charm of a train station. Drafty and unlovingly designed. This could be improved. According to our opinion the hotel is not necessarily recommendable for families, since there are no leisure offers or possibilities to play. There is a table tennis table or, for example, a leisure room or similar, which, when there is bad weather could be used. The wellness area was very small. There is a small steam sauna and a very small pool/Jacuzzi. Massages were offered, but we didn't make use of them, so we can't give any quality assessment. Now for the positive impressions. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating and even after the long season still motivated. Varied foreign language skills at the staff are also available. The location of the hotel is very positive. Rethymnon and Chania are 25 and 40 kilometers away, so within easy reach. Because of the bad weather we left each day for the south coast, where the weather was clearly better. Also worth a visit of Elafonisi or a hike in one of the many canyons. The beach was located directly in front of the hotel and extends over a length of nine miles. Very nice beach walks possible. Final conclusion: we wouldn't book this hotel again. Perhaps it was because of the approaching end of the season, but the hotel standard was not a four stars hotel, we have seen much better hotels.
