Hotel Cretan Malia Park

The hotel is ideally situated about 50 minutes from Heraklion Airport. Malia, the closest town is about 20 minutes by foot from the hotel. However, only venture out there if you are seeking serious night life with the young at heart in the endless discos and bars that line the streets!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the friendly and helpful staff. Throughout our stay we were treated to impeccable, friendly and efficient service from porters to receptionists to cleaning ladies to waiters and waitresses, their service was truly outstanding!

What a feast! The culinary delights at Malia Park will make you forget about any diets you thought you were on! You will not only live like a Greek god but eat like one too! Breakfasts and dinners are presented in a Buffet style with choices as endless as the sea itself. Here you can indulge in freshly prepared and high quality foods and produce. Traditional Cretan cuisine is also served every evening, in a special corner allocated for them. During our stay we were also treated to “themed” evenings which featured delicious foods from specific countries e. g. France, Italy and Asia. The food choices really cater for all taste buds and you are guaranteed to never tire of the food!

Worried about piling on those extra kilos from all the glorious food? Then worry no more…the vast variety of sports and recreation will have you looking toned and tanned in no time! Here you can leisurely swim in the sea, paddle in a canoe, windsurf, play a game of tennis or even opt for a cycling tour in the hills (don’t worry only downhill rides). Volleyball, aqua gymnastics and aerobics classes are also on offer. The hotel offers a bicycle rental on its premises, however, we couldn’t find bikes that met our specifications and found other bikes in Malia.
One of the outstanding features at Malia Park is its beautiful swimming pools. Deck chairs are in abundance around the swimming pools and on the beach. Due to the clever layout of the pools and palm trees, you are guaranteed a peaceful and relaxing spot, no matter where! There is never a fight for space, chairs, shade or umbrellas – there is literally more than enough for everyone!

The tastefully decorated rooms are spotlessly cleaned everyday. We found both the empty mini fridge and electronic safe very useful. The rooms also have air conditioning and the power showers are fantastic! Unfortunately the air conditioning is rather weak - you need to leave it on for hours to bring the temperature down. Towels for both bath and beach are provided, therefore no need to bring your own. For those who wish to catch up on news around the world, rooms have flat screen TV’s which offer programmes in English and many other languages.

The convenience store at the hotel is very well equipped and we found that it was actually better to buy bottled drinking water there, rather than buying it from outside stores. A lovely nearby fishing village worth visiting is, Sisi. It is only about 6km from the hotel by bike, a great place to have lunch whilst admiring the picturesque port and sea.
