Hotel Dana Beach Resort

The location was on the beach, with the main road outside the front of the hotel.
However you are 15 minutes from the airport with the flight path over the resort, but no worries you get used to the sound of the aircraft. Ther are shops within the hotel and lots of them across the road in front of the hotel. You will get the shop keepers trying to entice you in to see their goods but if you don't want to go in then a polite 'no thank you' will usually suffice.

The service cannot be faulted, staff are always polite and friendly and wonderfully helpful, their knowledge of the different languages is sufficient for you to understand them and vice versa. Cleanliness of the rooms is paramount, ours was kept immaculate by Alaa Y. a smashing young man who was always polite and keen to ensure that you were happy with his work,
We used the laundry once and could not fault it, in as much that one of my shirts had two small stains on it before we left home, but there were none after it came back from the laundry, what service! We did not use the doctor or child care ourselves but German friends, who we met there, used both and found them exceptionally good.

Five restaurants plus the beach cafe, you can't go wrong, we ate in all but the German restaurant (we didn't have time to go in there) and numerous bars, food and drink were always of excellent quality, the food could not be faulted there was food to match any and every taste. Everywhere exceptionally clean with canteen dining but waiters to attend to your every need, our waiter in the main restaurant,Mamhoud A A., was a terrific guy who looked after us and all the other people in his area with the utmost professional manner.

Ther are the pool games if you want to take part, water polo and pool fitness. there are tennis courts, mini golf and boulle if you want to use them. On the lagoon lake you can take a pedallo from one end of the hotel to the beach or vice versa or you can travel to and from the beach in the launches, driven by experienced staff. There was volleyball on the beach and sausage or chair rides behind the fast speed boats, or you can just laze in the sun and eat and drink if you wish.

Our room was very good and of a reasonable size, but regretably there was only a shower (a very good one) in the bathroom, it would have been nice to have had a bath. I believe that the larger rooms and suites hav a bath. Two chairs and a small plastic coffee table and a decent sized clothes airer were on the balcony. There is a mini bar, which is replenished withn two bottles of water and two soft drinks each day, you have a safe in your room and a telephone, however there are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, which is a bit of a no no.

If your mobile phone is on a roaming programme then no worries, although the costs are a little steep. We travelled in mid October and found the weather to be a consistent 32/33 degrees and very nice. We were told that it can get into the forties during the summer period, July to September.
