Lost paradise
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel once was a first class resort, but in the beginning of this century it became bankruptcy. Then it was invaded by homeless people who totaly destroyed the facilitie. Later the resort was expropiated by the goverment, and a program for renovation is started. Today (2010) about 10-15 % of the facilities are renovated and for hire as share apartments.
Location
The major area really looks as a battleground, just full of ruins. The nearby beach has been conaminated. The facilities are destroyed.

Sport & Entertainment
There is still a golfclub beside the hotel, but the facilities at the hotel are destroyed.
As well as the swimming pool. (can you imagine!)
Room
We stayed with family mambers who had bought an apartment at this ex hotel, and it is rather nice, but the area around is still wounded.
Tips and recommendations
Be careful with companies that still try to sell or hire apartment at Hotel Doral Beach Resort in Puerto la Cruz, because this facility does not exist anymore.
I do really wish that this magnificent hotell shall be reborn again...but it is propably only a dream.
