The hotel was located just outside of Maiori right by the steep coast above the coast road.
The hotel had 8 floors, as it had been described here before, but only floors 5-7 seemed to provide rooms for the guests. In the 8th floor, there were the dining hall and a large terrace.
Floors 1-4 lying inbetween seemed to have been used as functional rooms and for events (weddings) because of the location/the architecture of the hotel.
The hotel had partly been renovated and came, as visible on the pictures on the website, with freshly renovated rooms (5th floor) - but also not renovated rooms (7th floor) which seemed to be about 15 years old. The general impression was however flawless, modern and clean.
The rooms weren't soundproof (but that wasn't that bad), the security technology (smoke alarm, fire extinguishers, escape route signs, etc.) was up to date, but the lifts seemed rather unsteady and didn't have any visible seal of quality (all 3 lifts in the hotel).
With Google Street View (Google Earth), you could virtually pass by the hotel. (You could also well see the difficult car park situation).
Please note: The area was certainly rather not suitable for wheelchair users. The hotel (obviously) didn't come with such equipment. Also, the lifts or the entrances to the lifts seemed to be too narrow for a wheelchair (assumption). If a handicapped person is interested in this hotel, they should definitely ask the hotel about it first.
Guests: Most guests were Italians, and there were quite a few Germans, obviously no Russian-speaking guests, but people from all over Europe.
Food: We had half board.

Location

As described in previous reviews, the hotel was located a bit outside of Maiori (about 400m from the village boundary, by the steep coast above the sea in the direction of "Vietri sul Mare").
Between the sea and the hotel, the main road of the Amalfi coast passed through. The way to the village was inevitably along this road (not far - but no footpath, just the road, the rock face and a railing). After about 300m, there were some stairs which led down to the beach promenade and shortened the way to the village a bit (village centre about 800m away, beach about 400m away).
During our stay, the hotel didn't have a private usable beach/sea access. We could, however, use the one by the opposite restaurant/steep coast to a limited extent and after having paid for it. The bay/grotto which had been showed in the internet was very shady and not accessible when there were waves - and it was not a patch on the beach in the village nearby.
The hotel only offered limited parking possibilities. When you left your keys at the reception, your car was either parked in a bend at the main road nearby or in -???- (it was just gone). You could also park the car yourself, of course - but parking spaces were rare. However, the valet parking service worked quickly and without any problems (we felt a little queasy about it, though).
The location and the view from probably all the rooms were really very, very nice.

Service

Reception staff: professional, friendly, not cordial, rather indifferent towards the guests.
Bar staff: friendly, attentive and even really nice (for us, the best staff in the hotel - and the only one who deserved being tipped).
Dining hall staff: highly reserved, anxiously correct and only just polite.
Room cleaning: discreet but very thorough. New towels every day and very clean rooms.
The "H2T" was light years away from the atmosphere or the romance you could expect in this holiday destination. Only when some German guests asked, there were candles used in the bar. Flair, atmosphere and romance were completely missing in this, actually nicely arranged, hotel (must have been intended by the hotel management, though).
That was reflected basically everywhere. Bare hallways, little decoration, a very, very bright dining hall (but therefore very easy to clean).
A friendly atmosphere only came up when a wedding had taken place the previous day and the flower decoration had miraculously found its way to the dining hall...
In general, the hotel was far below our expectations regarding the service. The bar was only open in the evening, but was closed during the day even when the weather was bad.
Internet access was only offered in a small "phone booth" on the ground floor. No pool, no private sea access. Just the cleanliness and the friendly bartenders deserve to be praised. I noticed that useful information about the region and about bus and ship connections were missing. Only little was displayed at the reception, important information was missig.
There were no sports opportunities, entertainment or other services available here. When the weather was bad, we could only go the village or stay in the room. No pool, no sauna, no sports possibilities, no further programme.
Languages: Italian/English. Only 1 person at the reception spoke German. In the dining hall, Italian and English.

Gastronomy

Breakfast: Either in the dining hall on the 8th floor or on the terrace next to it. A choice of coffee / cappuccino / latte, etc. 2 sorts of cold meat (always the same), cake, sweets and 2 sorts of cheese... Plus, fruit juice from a machine and quite tasty rolls or bread as well as toast and fruit from the night before...
Breakfast was okay for Italy!
The atmosphere on the terrace was very nice... Just the staff seemed even more grumpy in the morning!
Dinner...weeeell...
At first, it seemed rather fancy. Bright dining hall, waiters in light jackets... It seemed very professional. Starters: Always pasta or also soup; main dishes: meat or fish (mostly 2 sorts of meat and fish to choose from); desserts: "frutta" = fruit - or cake.
But...first... the more guests were there, the smaller got the servings (no, we couldn't always eat our full!) - secondly, both the meat and the fish were partly of bad quality.
It was nice to look at the food piled up in the middle of the room and 70% of the plates the staff brought were then empty, but even after the "blob" was spread, the plate didn't really get full.
The work of the staff wasn't even "careless"... (Or why did they pull away our plates when we were still chewing?)
There was no salad - no salad buffet or the like. No further choice. No buffet with anything at all...!?! On request, they brought us a mixed salad (instead of a dessert). (So, there seemed to be salad available in the hotel!?). The choice of wine (menu) was good, the house wine was cheap - but of varying quality (could be changed on request, though!).
In short, the taste of the food was mostly OK but not superb at all. The servings were rather small, and people loving good cuisine might sometimes have asked themselves what had come over the chef regarding the composition. (Usually, Italian chefs rarely use "ketchup".) Sometimes, it was even really delicious (but then, either just the starter or just the main dish).
Please note: The hotel had been praised for its good food also here. But I'd expect something else in a 4 star hotel. Therefore, only 3 suns here at most.

Sport & Entertainment

That wasn't available in the hotel. No gym, no pool, no entertainment, poor bar opening-hours, umbrellas in the shady "hotel bay" had to be paid...
The surrounding area offered possibilities for hiking, cycling or for various water sports, though.
But we didn't get a lot of support from the hotel when we were looking for sports activities.
When there's nothing, I can't rate anything...well...but there was supposed to be something?! (well, in the hotel)

Room

Very clean, not really soundproof.
All rooms provided a nice view of the coast line. All of them had a balcony/a terrace which were partly not even visible from the outside.
All rooms basically included the sound of the sea.
We had a room which hadn't been renovated recently but was very clean and met our requirements. There was a flat screen TV with Sky-TV and many free international stations, but also with Pay-TV which required a charge.
Our room 703 had a nice size, also the bathroom with the bathtub was OK, just already a bit older - but always clean and neat. A fridge/mini bar was available too, as well as a safe in the room.
The balcony made a good, solid and safe impression, was clean and neat, like the entire hotel.

Tips and recommendations

We had spent quite some time looking for a room before booking. There were lots of rooms at the Amalfi coast, sometimes at absurd prices.
The Due Torri hotel (H2T) seemed to be the best choice - and we're "actually" still content.
In general, it seemed to be much cheaper to book with a tour operator than directly in the hotel.
People expecting atmosphere and Amalfi coast romance as well as a warm service were at least in this hotel wrong.
But it was perfectly suitable as a starting point for excursions or for a seaside holiday on the beach of Maiori,
That's why we finally recommend it.
However, we couldn't find the first class food that had been described here.
Maiori seemed to be the only place at the Amalfi coast which was still sunny after 4pm (June). So, it was a good choice for a seaside holiday.
In the evening/at night, there wasn't a lot going on in this village. So, we don't really recommend it to party people. But Amalfi wasn't very far away. The public transport was good.
The excursions to Ravello, Amalfi, Sorrento and Pompeii/Naples were nice.
If you wanted to spend a day on the sea, you should have gone on a boat tour to Capri (could be booked in Amalfi harbour... Dolce Vita Charter), very nice! We spent 10 hours on a 12m boat with 7 people (inludind a bathing bay and bathing in the sea, visiting the most important grottos and bays of the entire Amalfi coast and Capri, as well as a 3 hour stay on Capri, which was long enough).
The visit of the blue grotto there was however generally not recommended (rip-off?).
Maiori beach: You could get 2 beach chairs even in the first row for 10 euros a day (in June). They however tried to charge tourist 18 euros for the first row and 15 euros for the second row. Don't let them fool you.
Positive: "Orient" beach about in the middle of the beach section: clean, 2 brand-new beach chairs, not the usual 1 beach chair-1chair.
Another last tip... We noticed quite a few hotels when walking through the village... Some of them looked really bad (from the outside)... So, the Due Torri was really in a better condition.
It would be a fine recommendation for a good 3 star hotel... but in our opinion, the 4 stars were overrated. That might have been the reason why the 4th star was still fresh at the light decoration in front of the hotel (it must have been rather new there).
