Hotel Dunas De Sal

everyone, the fly to the Cape Verde Islands are traveling, you should be aware, that you are in a poor country.
sal island is a rough, hardly. Is the occasional you see a palm 'in the wild', the plants are covered with greenery, however.

when we looked at the check in our hotel, we were disappointed. Sometimes it looked, as if time on the facade gnawed. But we noticed, that the air with the high salt content of the buildings and the manifestations of cars within the space of a few months is rapidly ageing.

the hotel was, according to our guide statement, just last year deleted.
when we entered the hotel, we were immediately in the vacation ☺
silent, relaxing music enirched the atmosphere.
the staff was very friendly and spoke good English. The room we were shown and the suitcase carried.

the room met our expectations, it was very clean and well. Elaborate equipped in such a way that, for example, the sink in the bathroom needs to be concluded. So you can collaborate with partners and the well is not in the way.
the mattress (we have actually seen us) was clean, without spots. It was a mattress protector the bed was large and comfortable.

the restaurant and lounge were clean and were re-done, if the guests left the table. Orders were executed in a reasonable timeframe.

the breakfast consisted of different types of bread (white villages), toast, fruit salad, fruit, cakes, cereals, Patty, ham, cheese, jam and eggs in changing variants. Unfortunately the eivariation and the fruit is the only change the coffee comes in different sorts from the automat.

the dinner was always very delicious. You could get a menu selections. From three as we had only booked breakfast, we paid per menu 16.50 euros. Drinks are extra.

the pool was very pleasant and clean the beach chairs were free, as well as on the beach, take.

we were totally satisfied with the choice of our hotel. No entertainment, no mass processing, instead personal, friendly service and cheerful singing chambermaids ☺ the constantly on the cleaning were.

a few tips:
the following TRIPS we made and these can recommend: island tour (about 30 Euro), pirate ship (very relaxing, 35-55 euro), evening with local food creole.

santa Maria is reachable in approximately 15 minutes (Boardwalk or street) there it is worthwhile, in the restaurant. Every evening we had the opportunity, a local. We recommend:
'fish rman' (a nice German couple operates, the total are crazy, because they have shell pictures on the wall created, great! Highly recommended! Food is very delicious!)
'with Angela' (local restaurant, lunch buffet, in the evening à la carte, Friday and Saturday nights, They grilled... HHMM)
'cafe cultual' (there are great-caipirinha for 2.50 euro, we ate there nothing, although the food of the guests looked good)
a food costs between 5-11 euro. Soft drinks 1-2 Euro, caipirinha 2-3 Euro

although it is recommended, in the evening, take a taxi to the hotel (about three euro), you could also in the evening without hesitation and enjoy the cooler air.

we were often approached by the locals, who wanted to sell something. This can be quite strenuous in the long term, you want to appear not rude... Action was definitely worth it, especially, if you buy things, 'group discount' to temporize!

not to be missed the boat dock. The spectacle must see, when a boat with a big catch sets in! Very fun and exciting!

there are many stray dogs and some cats, which speak with a loyal view of the table 'gefallendes down'. Very nice and unobtrusive. Only the eyes if you don't all plates and relatively inconspicuous is fed, none is clean, if you do a little.

for the children I had taken a few sweets and distributed. They were very pleased, because there were all crazy about sweets, adults ☺ begging children didn't, which can you give nothing, because they are playing hooky, if you are traveling during the day.

as we have found, that the island is little bugs, from time to time times a mosquito flies or bugs, otherwise we have seen nothing.
Caution is offered at the sun, sun cream and lotion against a sure fire (but there is also for about 3.50 euro in the pharmacy) pack!

what it costs?
calls on the market of the kids cabin about 0.70 in euro per minute.
1 bottle of water in the supermarket about 1-1.50 euro.
1 bottle of wine from 2.50-20 Euro (depending on quality stop)
piri-Piri (local spice, very spicy) at the Chinese 0.25 euro in powder form.
fogo-coffee (at the Chinese, the supermarket in Santa Maria, where you can get almost everything) 2.50 euro for 250g.
toiletries and body lotion were expensive.
Cigarettes 2.50-3 Euro per box.
