Eden Playa, German hotel
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AHotel in genaral was very nice, clean, a good sized complex, rooms were cleaned daily. reception staff were very helpfull and easy to talk to. Only down side was the over all nationality of the hotel, it was mostly for German customers, had Thomas Cook told us this then we could have had the choice to book a different hotel, but it seems they like to leave out all the small details. Details which could effectively spoil your holiday.
Location
Location is ok if you like to eat out of the same restaraunts everynight, don't get me wrong the food is good and the entertainment is worth watching, especially in the restaraunt over the road from the hotel, ABBA tribute is great on a wed night, and theres a rock tribute on the friday, (ABBA tribute, but as other stars) great show.
If you want to go to a bigger choice of shops and restaraunts, then you need to go by taxi, as the distance is too far to walk.
Over-all hotel was very good, staff were approachable and helpfull.
Very clean, rooms done daily.
Gastronomy
During our time at the hotel we didn't dine there. At the pool there is a little snack and drinks kiosk, the staff are friendly and can understand some English, but on most occassions they got the order wrong.
There's another eating place within the grounds of the hotel, great for main meals and drinks, they seemed to understand us much better and the service there was great.
Sport & Entertainment
Theres plenty going on all day with all the different clubs for different ages, we didnt get involved with them but it again there was more German than anyone else, so if we did attend we would have felt like the odd one out. Pool was a great size, had to get up early in the morning to put the towels out if we were staying at the pool. Beach was 2 mins walk out of the complex.
Room
The rooms were very nice, spacious, had air conditioning.
We had a pool and beach view, which was nice, but the hotel entertainment area was also at our side, so we got to hear it whether we wanted to or not, and mostly it was not, as it was mostly in german and for kids.
Crickets are a plenty in the complex, dont know how many I killed, but there was loads, the balcony door glass was quite good at soundproofing, but you could still hear the crickets through it. The hotel room didn't have a kettle or toaster, we brought our own, it did have a microwave and 2 ring cooker, the fridge was crap also, had to buy milk every 2 days as the fridge wasnt cold enough to keep it from going off. Hairdryer was crap, didnt even use it. TV programs were mostly German, only English channels that worked were News Channels.
Tips and recommendations
Useful tip, if your British, make sure you ask Thomas cook the overall nationality of the hotel customers, or you could end up like Johnny no mates! Luckily we had other family with us. Weather was great when we were there, wouldn't go any later than September as it starts to get cloudy and rainny. As the Euro gets worse the cost of things in Spain is getting more expensive, just watch what you buy and where.
