Expensive and not very customer-oriented *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel area with its over 300 rooms was rather small for our taste. To arrive at the beach we walked through the pool area and the beach chairs standing in the way, and past the people jumping in the pool.
Location
Depending upon the location of the hotel room, the distance to the beach was a few hundred meters. Opposite the hotel there was a small supermarket which however was rather expensive . In the vicinity there were various entertainment possibilities particularly for children (pony rides, car scooter rides, game room). A bus station was also in the vicinity. The bus to Alcudia to the market cost 6 euro for a four member family (one way). The market was enormous however totally overcrowded and in the afternoon much too hot there! In addition there were some overpriced tourist stores in the vicinity of the hotel. Close to the hotel was a Steakhouse, which was good however very expensive. In addition a pizzeria, which looked very promising from the outside. But it was not at all recommended. Our frozen pizzas were still better, than those from there.
Most hotel employees spoke German. The staff in the restaurant was always attentive and friendly. The cleaning lady was also in order, except that the room was only cleaned first in the afternoon and our small daughter then actually had taken her afternoon nap. Very unpleasant however the experience with the staff at the check in counter. On the departure day we had to leave the room at twelve o'clock. The trolley bus to the airport fetched us however only at around half past four. We asked politely, whether it would be possible, that we kept the room still two hours longer (also because of the noon nap for our daughter) we were really let down. We were told very impolitely that we would have to leave the room punctually and that there would not be a possibility of staying longer in another room. As we wanted to speak to the reception manager, he didn't listen to us at all, instead referred us without a glance and quite rude, to the TUI tourist guide. Bringing complaints didn't help at all.
Gastronomy
There was only one main restaurant, one restaurant close to the beach and one snack bar next to the pool. The meal in the evening was rich, but it got repeated everyday. . You had to pay extra for the drinks. What was really annoying was the crowd at the buffet. It was really difficult to get food at the buffet with small children and it wasn't relaxing.
Sport & Entertainment
There was a tennis court and it cost per hour 6 euro. The volleyball field in the vicinity of the beach was free. We did not find a mini market on the whole area. Pony rides were offered twice a week for 5 euro for 10 min. In addition there was a nice children's playground, also kids care, a billiards, a mini disco, an outdoor and an indoor swimming pool. We did not really dare going into the pool. From others we heard that their children got an ear infection. At the beach the beach chairs and umbrellas were hotly disputed. All were already early in the morning occupied. One could rent an umbrella with beach chairs for the whole time, which however was rather expensive (9 days = 110 euro)
Room
The size of the room was borderline. The whole furniture was quite old. There was air conditioning, which only worked on one of three levels though. Every room had a small kitchen with two stoves, microwave, sink, fridge and cutlery. The safe cost around 15 euros. The hair dryer was only useful if you had very short hair or had a lot of time to dry your hair. The rooms were very badly soundproofed. Especially if you apartment was near the show stage.
Tips and recommendations
Our tip: Bring along enough travel money despite half board. Everything costs, and not too scarce!!!
