Hotel Eden Swiss Quality

8 mins walk to the train station, I guess about the same to the bay and the castle. Free parking on site. Thoune and Berne within 30m from Spiez - both towns with a fantastic ambience and authentically Swiss Christmas market. Close to Interlaken and the Bernese Alps for skiing and other winter sports. I imagine that in summer the lake is great for water sports and boat rides. Fantastic view on the lake from our room.

All staff were extremely helpful, competent and proficient in English. We were allowed to check in at 11am the day of arrival as the room was already prepared - a real bonus. We were also served breakfast in our room and picked up from the train station on arrival. There was a range of leaflets and info in the room, as well as a card offering deals on local activities.

There's a large restaurant, bar, library/games room and outdoor area where you can eat & drink. There is also a heated covered area for smokers. The 4-course meal was excellent, a real attention to detail and made with fresh organic ingredients. The service was spot-on and the price very reasonable at half-board.

The wellness area is great for couples, nice lighting and with a luxury touch. After a swim in the pool (with view on the bay, lake and mountains), we went for the steam room which was just the right temperature - very relaxing. There is also a tea/juice area in between where you can sit back and chill out.

The room, category comfort with balcony and view on the lake, was very clean, of a good size and equipped with Occitane toiletries which was a nice touch. The wardrobe was nicely lit up and all of the general lighting was adjustable which helps set the mood. The bed was very comfortable and also electronically adjustable.

I'd say that the best time to stay at the Eden would be summer, but december was equally an excellent time to go, any time of year in fact. It's a great place for a relaxing getaway, or as a starting point to discover the bernese alps. It's quite a treat to stay at this hotel, and not something that is easily forgotten. For the services and quality offered, in my opinion it's worth every franc !
