Hotel Eiger

This hotel is a 1 minute walk from the train station, and in the center of the village right near the grocery store, the bakery etc. You cannot find a better location!

The owner is charming and helpful in every way imaginable. He lent us a hiking map, and had suggestions of where to go. He makes an effort to introduce all guests to each other and sets a competent and efficient and friendly tone. Children are welcome here and there are videos and toys for their enjoyment.

The restaurants are immaculate. The food is very good, and plentiful. We did the half board arrangement and I would recommend this to anyone traveling in Wengen as there are not many restaurants in the village. There is a restaurant downstairs and a bar at the Hotel Eiger.

Each week there is an organized hiking tour which I did not join but I understand that they are well run. There is no computer in the hotel for guests yet.

The rooms are very clean, decorated years ago in a dark brown with basic furniture. The TV works well, our room had a lovely terrace. There was no coffee machine in the room but the staff was very happy to provide early morning coffee and steamed milk on a silver tray to be brought to the room. The rooms are quiet and everything worked well.

Winter would be beautiful here, but we came in summer. Telephone costs were reasonable, and the general efficiency of the staff was a real pleasure.
