Hotel Eliros Mare

The hotel was directly at a wonderful beach. You walked about 45 minutes along the beach (a very nice walk) to the next town (Georgioupolis). A bus took about 5 minutes for the lazy ones (:-)). You could shop, drink etc. a little bit in this town. But that wasn't necessary with the great all inclusive offer of the hotel. For example Rethymnon was more worth seeing. Reachable with the bus in about 20 minutes. Chania in the other direction was also worth a visit. Since we already knew Crete, we spent most of the one week in the hotel. The location of the hotel was ideal as a starting point for excursion to all directions.

We have hardly anything to complain about the service. They spoke international languages, all were friendly and obliging. The room cleaning was completely all right. The pool area was also cleaned thoroughly. The child care didn't have very nice premises... however, the staff endeavoured. Our child who travelled with us loved the mini disco in the evening.

We enjoyed the food very much. Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the form of a buffet. Much choice. The breakfast buffet was absolutely perfect for Greece. At lunch and dinner about 5 salads to choose from (of course there was always Greek salad), in addition several warm dishes and desserts. Cakes, biscuits etc. available at the beach bar in the morning and in the afternoon. The cocktails in the evening were two-coloured, but without "cocktail decoration" like we love it. But we were still content with it and enjoyed the one or the other.

The beach was absolutely great. White sandy beach, very clean. The water clear and also kids could easily go into the water. Hardly any stones in the water in front of our hotel. You could rent beach chairs and umbrellas at the beach (3 euros per adult/kids were for free... even if they lied on a beach chair). Showers were also available. There were also many comfortable pool chairs and umbrellas going with them at the pool (of course without extra charge). Since we visited the hotel during off-season, the entertainment was descreet. There was the possibility to do water aerobics, play beach volleyball etc. There was changing entertainment in the evenings. Mini disco was always at 8.30 pm (for 15 minutes). From 9.30 pm on there was entertainment for adults, such as movies quiz, cinema evening, visit of a magician, dance contests etc.

We booked our rooms as single rooms but they each had a double bed and were also otherwise very spacious. Big balcony, bathtub, TV (some international channels), fridge, air-conditioning. I can't complain about anything here either. It was also clean under the bed. The family rooms were surely more spacious.

We had wonderful sunny days in October without overcrowded beaches and many tourists. A completely great holiday.
