A very nice, small hotel *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe enjoyed this spring a week of relaxation on the wonderful island of Crete retreat.
The cleanliness of the room in Hotel Erato was satisfactory for our needs.
I would like to start with the staff:
The hotel is family run, which always very friendly and personal atmosphere. (You will, however, also be left alone, if you do not want to have conversations)
It is worth noting at this point, also, that the entire family spoke perfect German and with advice and act to the side.
For example, happy to organise car, bicycles or a debate, which destinations worth it and on what you can do without.
And every Thursday organise a Greek evening with a large buffet and live music, which one had suggested a traditional dance.
This was unfortunately with 20 euros (without drinks) a bit pricey.
The rooms (we had a 'comfort room') are of a good size and are cleaned every day. Other comments, the sheets and towels not changed, I can not confirm; since everything was good.
The pool is of appropriate size for the hotel and no one besieged since there, he didn't bauchte, actually, you could always find a place to lie.
Of course there are also a few less positive things:
The path to the beach sounds in the description very short, however, the only a small gravel beach, where you could not really.
With the bus one is in a few minutes but on a beautiful sandy beach, where, if you wanted also beach chairs to use.
Would you're a pure beach holiday book, this would probably not the best choice.
The food is average youth hostel quality.
I personally had no problem with this, especially as you have your lunch mostly anyway and eating out in the hotel buffet is always a generous salad, what I usually was sufficient.
The breakfast buffet was the same every day, but very good and plentiful.
(But actually the most but anyway in the morning always the same, right?)
In Gournes is unfortunately not very much to do:
A few pubs and small restaurants are within walking distance and a small store to the supply of drinks or similar is right next door.
With a big spar market, you can still vorbeischauenn, if you're going to the beach and then with the bus back.
We stayed for eight nights about 400 Euro the price, what abzgl airfare with about 250 euro is really not a lot.
In view of this fact, you should, if you go holiday Bay also be aware, that it for the money not a 4-star food and great location would expect.
Personally, I would definitely return to the hotel, as the small and familiar atmosphere really enjoyed and minor defect well able to overlook.
Finally, a tip:
Take, no matter where you are travelling on Crete rather too much with a bottle of sun cream! Even in the supermarket almost 20 euro is a normal nivea-sunscreen and the Greek products are not much cheaper.
