You can tell that the hotel is one of the oldest in the square, the lobby is quite comfortable with a gas fireplace. We had the "Cold breakfast". The distinction of hot and cold breakfast, I found quite impractical, instead of a slightly higher price for everything and go buy some more cheese and meats lacked storage space. It was certainly also for the staff easier. There was no variety at breakfast, but it was fruit there kinds of cereal, milk and hard boiled eggs. We then cheeses at the nearby Safeway set. That was ok. And if you wanted to have scrambled eggs, you could order the for about $7 . The guests were very mixed, when we were there, there were mostly Americans and German in the hotel. Also the ages were mixed, so late 30 's early 40s.

The location of the hotel is great, it's only a few minutes away from the to the bus and also to Vail village and lionshead good walk or take the free bus. Vail is very expensive, but according to dollar, one can a bargain. We are with the rental car from Denver, was without any problem. You can also visit the nearby (10 minutes by car or by bus) Beaver Creek, the eminent ski resort. You can tell the difference here everything is more expensive. Vail is from the village way but nice and cozy.

The staff at the hotel was super friendly and approachable, of course, nobody spoke German, but there was a lot of effort to speak slow. The room cleaning was very good, the room always looked like remodeled and the hand towels were changed, if you wanted.

There is a sports bar, the visited was every evening, here one could also eat, which we didn't use, we only heard from other guests that the beer is very good. We were once in the hotel's restaurant and the food was typically American and pretty good, but not so much so that we it a 2 . Even tried it.

There is free high-speed Internet in the lobby. The ski room is a bit run down, but only for storage boards and skiing. The ski boots will take you back to the room and can also as wear and drying. In the Untergeschuß there is a large jacuzzi and 2 saunas. This "spa" was appalling. At the a sauna, so that was missing the handle the door didn't close and both saunas are not used every day and quite run down. There is no relaxation area. A few nice plants in the hot tub and the possibility to Rest would be pleasant. The outdoor pool looked very nice, however, we didn't use it. There is also a arcade games room, but we did not seen the have ever used.

The rooms were relatively newly painted and also clean, but our bed linens left a lot to be desired. The pillows smell like they have months were not cleaned and headboards are with fabric hanging around the also could use a little updating to remove the Muffe, the probably already years in it depends on. I had a thin Schaumstoffmatte than duvet between 2 sheets, which of course was not all that hot, so that the full bed covers, the well known as good as never had to be cleaned as Wärmehilfe insurance. So well kept bedding is something else. Other than that, everything was very clean and tidy. The bathroom with a small vestibule with coffee maker and complimentary coffee was completely sufficient, unfortunately the deduction day and night. The furniture was totally O. K. , we had 2 queen-size beds and a table, chair and a comfortable chair. The TV reception was also rather bad. The room was very quiet, the only noise from neighbors very little. We had a view to the mountain, so to the hospital side, but first at the 4. Floor worth it, otherwise you get the drawback of suffer snowfall that at night the parking lot and the parking deck noisy removed. However the highway to go, we can't say.

Tips and recommendations

We all Outdoorsportarten, the weather did not affect you can, but since this great ski area very wooded you can also enjoy all when it's overcast. The ski area really looking is second to none. There a tanning butler and info on each morning there is the recent plan of slopes. The ski area makes up for some. In Vail we can highly recommend the restaurant Lancelot, super service, very good food for the usual VAIL-prices, it was well worth it. If you arrive by car from Denver, should definitely on the Outlet Center Silverthorne stop for shopping (about 30 minutes. Prior to Vail, right on the 70 ). If you must, the new made finding replacement clothes shopping here was definitely worth it.
