Nice hotel, good location *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Far View Lodge is an older but clean hotel. It is very basic, but very pleasant. And it's very, very quiet.
Location
The individual Zimmerkomplexe where right in the middle of the park and are built into the hills. The next city is Cortez, but more than 20 miles away. We come from a supermarket in Cortez with the most important things set.
The staff was friendly, spoke fluent English (which is not always the case), the rooms were cleaned daily and were very clean.
Gastronomy
There are several possibilities. On the one hand, there is a Art diner with very large dining room, which is designed large groups. The food is OK, but no revelation. There is also a restaurant, the Metate-room, where to dine out in the evenings. The rates are wonderfully juicy.
Sport & Entertainment not available
Room
The rooms are not big, but clean and tidy. Each room has a small balcony with chairs. A special feature is still: There's no TV and no air conditioning. You need air con, as it is not really hot. And the lack of TV is really pleasant. We spent our evening sitting on the balcony, reading and dawn the saw deer watching the trough had. The animals are free to come to the balcony folks, quiet if you. The starry sky after dark, it's absolutely fascinating. Since there is no Lichtmüll as in the cities, you can easily see the Milky Way.
Tips and recommendations
The whole park can be busy with the car. Be sure to book a ranger guided tour. The rangers give interesting insight into the Ansazi indians in the way of living. I also recommend the Petroglyph trail. A bit of a hike, partly exasperating trail, but sublime views available. thus also Petroglyphs the Indians.
