Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AMy wife and I took our children on their first foreign holiday. It was a quick decision with only five days to prepare. We really enjoyed it. The apartment was basic, but what is really needed when you plan to just use the room for sleeping? The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, smelt as though the window had not been opened in a while, other than that it was fine. The kids had a whale of a time in the pool, there was also a babies pool, both of which were cleaned each evening.
We were in room 552, there were loads more, so exactly how many rooms in total I'm not sure of. There were plenty of cleaners about every day and one during the night if needed. The nationalities were varied, Russian, German, Polish, Italian English and Welsh. Those who sat around the pool got on well.
I plan to go there again and would recommend it to anyone.
Location
The beach was a short walk away, and what a beach! There was a shop directly over the road and another just 80yards down the road. The town square was a few mins walk away with plenty of tavernas to choose from.
The car hire office was just 50 yards down the road which also offered excursions. We found the cheapest car hire was Ethnas which is in the square.
The reception staff were really helpful, any inquiry was sorted straight away. All staff members spoke great English so understanding was never a problem. There is alos an English chap working there, Alan, who was as good as the others. One young lady there would bend over backwards to help, nothing was ever too much.
Room cleaning was daily except for sundays, ( even the cleaners need a day off )
Gastronomy
There were plenty of Tavernas to choose from, although we didn't try them all the ones we used were great. Some great food to choose from.
Sport & Entertainment
Beach 10/10 and the pool too. Shopping was on the doorstep, but prices were slightly cheaper closer to the square.
Room
Great for what we needed. Air-con, TV, safe etc
Tips and recommendations
Just ask at reception for internet access and they point you to a PC in reception. That cost 1 euro for half hours use, most times they didn't take the money.
The Red, Green and blue trains which run by the beach were brilliant. Valentino, the driver, Phil, the tour guide and Maggie, Masseuse and ticket sales were great people and made us feel really welcome. We had some great days out on the train with them. Some of the local culture and histories are amazing. Kournos lake is a must see too, amazing.
