What many people don't really realize is that hotels in Greece probably aren't necessarily going to compare with the high accommodations of other countries because the nation is in poverty. Our group stayed there overnight due to a planning error on the tour company's part, and of my 10 day, 6 different hotels in Greece and Italy trip, this was by far the best hotel we stayed in.

There is no elevator, which was a bummer because there were many stairs (so many that coming back down I had to be careful not to get lost), but we actually did have people help us carry up luggage for those who were not able to really carry it themselves (like my mother).

Most of the reviews on here have complained about the breakfast, but again, that's a bit due to the lack of knowledge of the culture. Our trip spanned across Italy and Greece, and this was the second best breakfast we had. Italians and Gretians, they just don't eat very elaborate breakfasts. They have a crossaint and coffee every morning and they're good. The ham, cheese, bread, cereal and coffee/juice selection was typical of all the other breakfasts we had across both countries. It was fresh, though, and the bread was warm and tasty. Nothing spectacular to American standards (and I guess German standards either), but if you take the culture into account, it was good. The reason dinner is probably reviewed as so much better is because that's the most important meal to them, and so they eat more at that time. thus serving more.

We didn't stay in Syvota long enough for me to get a feel for the surroundings, but the hotel was right on the Sea, and there were boats available to rent right there.

I mention below that the room did have some bugs, but other than that it was nice. Some of the hotels we stayed in on our journey had showers so small that you couldn't even breath without touching the shower curtain. This hotel, however, had a very spacious shower with an actual shower door. Beautiful.

We didn't deal much with the staff; our translator checked us in and everything, but the staff at the bar knew the drinks in English and that was good enough for me.

There were a few bugs in the room, more than I would like, but they were only little fruit flies and really that is to be expected somewhat with a balcony (which had a beautiful view). The hotel did have a sort of stair step front to its architecture, which meant that the I could easily see those on the balcony below us. which was fine for me but not really very private for them.

The room was a very nice size, there were two of us but we were put in a room with 3 beds. The shower, also, was very nice, with one of those "rainfall" showerheads. None of our group could figure out how to use the other sprayer head, but it didn't matter because the rainfall one had spectacular pressure and it was so nice.
