A clean, affordable, pleasant hotel
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AI stayed at the Hotel Derby recently with three friends. If you're looking for a base that's clean, affordable, within walking distance to the town centre and railway station and with knowledgeable, friendly staff then you can't go wrong with the Hotel Derby.
The staff are helpful and welcoming and speak good English. You are provided with a pass that allows you to travel free on public transport around the local area. The hotel is peaceful and very clean. Although part of the building dates back to the late 1800s it has a modern feel to it. There are little touches that add a homely feel-fairy lights, paintings of local scenes dotted around the hotel, traditional ornaments, to name a few. I can't fault the place-the room was warm, the shower was good, you're provided with extra blankets, there's hot drink facilities in the room etc. We were on the ground floor, which meant we had a balcony and access to the garden; a bit cold to utilise in January but I'm sure this would be something to take advantage of in the high season.
