Hotel Giakalis

The beach is about 500m away, the center of Marmari about 2km away, so everything in walking distance, if you were good on foot. The best thing to do is ask at the very helpful front desk for directions. 2 Fahrzeugvermieter are about 500m away, where you bikes (3 to 4 euros/day) could borrow but also cars (from 33 Euro per day with comprehensive cover), scooters, beach buggies etc. 2 Mini supermarkets are on the way to the beach and several major are in for Marmari in about 1km away.

The front desk staff is always very helpful. German and English were no problem. There are 6 times a week cleaning (except Sundays), where the towels every 3 days and the beds were changed every 5 days. Unfortunately a bit lacking in the cleaning. Unfortunately, this was not always clean. Hair in the shower were generally also after cleaning. 1 time was the toilet nor trash emptied, which in Greece is not nice, as the used toilet paper in gives. Toilet and basin were also only superficially cleaned. Under the bed was not cleaned.

There was a restaurant and a bar. The quality of the food was fine and adequate for the price range. However, it is not very varied which was also one of the reasons why the hotel manager its chef according to their own canceled at the end of the season. The breakfast buffet in the morning, there was no variation. Always the same cheese and also always the same 3 types of sausage (all taste the same). 3 kinds of jam and honey, 2 kinds of cereal, bright and sometimes a bit darker bread, which was all but always quickly. Evenings there was also food in form of a buffet, but you always had a small salad and then from 2 a typical national meats with 2-4 side dishes to choose. Also it was not really varied, as well as the dessert almost always consisted of melons. Only once was there grapes.

In the hotel there was a small pool with several chairs and umbrellas around it which from us but little use was made. We were almost always at the beach, where there is enough space to spread out a really neat ceiling. Also, there were always beach chairs with umbrella to rent (5 euros per day for 2 beach chairs), what we usually did. There were showers on the beach. You can walk miles of beach in both directions.

Our apartment consisted of 2 bedrooms with furnishings from the 1970 's, but its purpose met. There were 2 balconies were available. 1 to sit, 1 with clothes rack. A small kitchen, which we didn't try them, except for the fridge. There was no air conditioning making in our room constantly between 25 and 27 degrees previously, taking also night dips Querlüften not much has changed.

Next time we would not take half board, also because we all over the island many really good and delicious restaurants found and would like more options would have had to check them out. The ended on some days that we ate twice warm. The restaurant "swallow's nest", which is 400m away almost directly on the beach, but we have several times and delicious cocktails.
