Grand Beauty does not live up to its name
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThis is a new small hotel, 85 rooms, which is nice and is kept clean. It is all inclusive. The hotel caters mainly for Russian, German & Dutch. There is a shuttle bus which runs a couple of times a day. 24hour reception. It is not family friendly. There is a small gym, Turkish bath, but no shop or hairdresser as stated in the brochure. The pool table costs five euro an hour.
Location
The Grand Beauty is situated beside woods at the edge of a residential part of Kemer, there are no shops etc beside the hotel, It is a twenty minute walk to the shops and blue flag beach. There is very little in the way of entertainment, background music and a belly dancing show once a week. quote from their brochure in the hotel "animation team will entertain you at the day time and make you forget all the troubles. You'll enjoy night time show which will take you to another world of wonders and joy" there is no animation team. No public transport near the hotel, you can book excursions from the hotel, they are expensive, it is much cheaper to do it from a travel agency in town. There is one other hotel accross the road called the Grand Viking Travel time from the airport is one hour but can be longer if there are a lot of drop offs
The staff are not friendly in general although some were nice, the do not smile and do not comunicate with you as most of them cannot speak english, The manager of the hotel constanly patrols! he does not speak any english, there is no response to complaints of which there were many the answer was "I no understand" , but when asked about other things they did, no childcare facilities, there is a doctor , a small gym, laundry service (which is expensive eg, 13 euros to iron your nightdress) and a turkish bath.
Gastronomy
one buffet restaurant, which serves the same type of food day after day, provincial, what hot food there was was never hot, no facilities used to keep it warm, there is no atmosphere , hygiene was not very good plates cutlery etc were often dirty. There is one small bar beside the pool for the whole hotel with one waiter to serve for the whole hotel as a result there were long queues especially when all incluseive was due to finish, which was 10. 30 pm every night , the few waiters that were there did try hard to clear the tables so that other people could have their meals, the eating areas should be bigger. Many people be came ill with sickness and diarrhoea, which included myself and husband
Sport & Entertainment
Small fitness centre, billiards table which you have to pay for, ample sunbeds and parasols , small outdoor pool with very small childrens pool, no slides no childrens club although there is a small area for them to play with some outdoor toys beside that is a stage which seldom gets used. There is also a meeting room. Advertise is a hairdress and shop of which there are none.
Room
Rooms are small, but very nice with tv, hairdyer, air-conditioning mini bar, bath and shower, safe, some rooms did not have verandahs although they had doors which could open, replacement of sheets and towels is very poor, when asked staff will change them, the hotel is quiet, no people are around after twelve as the one and only bar is shut. there is nowwhere to sit for a drink except outside beside the pool. Reception area is nicely furnished. The hotel has twin, double and family rooms
Tips and recommendations
Kemer is a lovely place but does not really cater for the British tourist, mostly Russian, German and Dutch, Telephone costs from landlines is relatively cheep, good reception for mobile phones. It is very hot in July and August reaching forty five degrees sometimes higher also the humidity is very high, the best time to go is in May and September. In Kemer itself there a lots of very good restaurants with excellent service and food, plenty of shops of all kinds, There is a lovely marina dolphinarium and large open air disco,
