Hotel for Simple Requirements Absolutely Sufficient *

The hotel was sufficient for simple requirements, if one wanted to use it as a starting point for seeing the island. In a few places it was clearly needing renovation, but was totally ok. As well the employees in a few areas needed an intensive school (in our case the cleanness and the service in Restaurant Papagayo and the cleanness and observing the spots in the room). As well more value should be placed on cleanness in the whole hotel area (the wind could blow strongly once and take all the pieces of trash away). The tourist structure was mixed. We noticed very many Spanish (due to the Spanish vacation hardly surprising), English, French, Polish, Italians and German. Other languages we didn't hear. After the Spanish holidays a lot of Germans came, according to the reception - who were regular guests.

As starting point for the island exploration we thought the hotel was good. As well as in the south of the island location, one could generally within an hour reach every point of the island (62km long). We had rented a car directly from the airport and were in somewhat 20 minutes from there to the hotel. The hotel was located directly on a beach promenade, in which many small stores (with all souvenirs) and restaurants (English, Chinese, Italian, etc. ). Evenings it was very beautiful, to walk there or in a small bar directly in front of the neighboring hotel to have a drink. There was a beach directly at the hotel. Supposedly it cost 9 Eur per 2 beach chairs plus umbrella. However we hadn't tested it.At somewhat 5km distance there were the Papagayo beaches. They were very beautiful, cost about 3, Eur daily (control on the path there).

The employees at the reception were really super and were real friendly (especially Angela and the trainees). We changed our room on our arrival day, so as not to have the evening sun. It worked without problems. And also all of the other requests we cared for friendly and quickly. The employees spoke a variety of languages - I heard Spanish, English, French and German.

The employees in the restaurant contrarily were not our sort. On one evening the used plates were only cleared away since we cleared them ourselves away. This was seen at other tables. On other evenings it took a lot of time until they were cleared away. Somewhat on the third or fourth evening we talked to the head waiter about it. On the same following evenings it improved only partly. After the statements of the regular guests it had never happened. Shortly before the end of our holiday then already our drinks stood at our table when we came (as partly reserved for us). With languages one got along the best with Spanish (very helpful, if one could say his room number in Spanish), but also English and even German was quite possible. The employees changed during our holiday at least three times.
The room maids were always nice, ours sadly didn't notice details. We had sadly one night very many mosquitoes (the curtains helped there very well) and accordingly many bodies and blood stains (for example on the mirror and on the night table) on the next day. These were still there after the room cleaning. Basically it wasn't anything tragic, but it just showed their attention to spots in the bathroom.

The service in the restaurant was, as said, needed improvement.
The food was totally good - there should have been something there for every taste. However some salads didn't seem fresh anymore - brown spots on the red cabbage, or on the carrots and once on the cucumbers. On one day the lemons were definitely not fresh anymore, which were exchanged, after we pointed it out.
The cooks tried the food themselves, which we thought was a good sign.
For breakfast there was a portion pack for jam, honey, chocolate nut cream, and butter. There were fried eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, bacon, sausages (for the English breakfast), cold cots and cheese choice, different bread and bread rolls and fresh fruit.
Evenings there was a changing buffet with salad, cold and warm dishes (for example

We used the activities twice (bows and arrows and shuffle board). Both of the girls were very nice and could both speak fluent German, Spanish and English. The activities were not pushy. We couldn't say anthing more about them.
The pool wasn't anything for us. We only used it when we came from the beach. There were enough beach chairs (naturally there were many always reserved) and umbrellas (free and partly very light penetrant- CAREFUL sunburn danger!), but the umbrellas were firmly installed and many beach chairs were frightfully worn. Sadly there were almost no other shade possibilities (for example palms or trees). There were small problems, for example in the childrens pool a few tiles were missing. The showers didn't always work and there were no eyecatchers. Here was a need for improvement.
The beach directly at the hotel was also nothing for us -it was too full for us. In this aspect we were rather individualists.
CAREFUL! Whoever was too close to the water during tide, got at least with the waves which came from the ferry from Fuerte, wet feet and hand towels!
There was a building part, which went a bit out in front, there was another pool, which was more still and partly deeper, but which also had defects. There was once waterfull, which didn't work, when we were there. Actually that pool and the area around it wasn't bad, but was apparently little used (free spots, closed kiosk). Sad, here one could make something out of it.

The rooms were good and sufficient. CAREFUL! Only in the suites there were a few refrigerators, which weren't in the normal rooms. For medicine, which should be stored cool, simply ask at the reception. The safe and the air conditioner worked, telephone we didn't use. Cleanness as described.
We had a room towards the east, since in the room to the south and the west it could be very warm (remarks from the acquaintances). We slept nights rather with open door! Partly we had to control the mattresses. At one a spring came through. After we turned the mattress over, there was afterwards - thankfully - nothing more to be felt.

Tips and recommendations

CAREFUL Beach chair reservations: We had on 2 morings a real rain shower:)
