A lot better than expected *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe area was by and large very nice. The pathes were leading through a very colorful garden and along two lakes. The beach consisted of fine sand.
The hotel was suitable for a realxing holiday. But it's not recommendable to go there with children, as they would get bored quickly.
Location
It was located close to the airport, but there wasn't annoying aviation noise. Directly in front of the hotel there was a street with shopping opportunities and bars. It took about one cuarter of an hour to get to the center by taxi, which passed the hotel every few seconds. Don't pay more than two Euros for one ride and don't let yourself get ripped off.
If they give you back a 50 pounds bill, make sure it really is a 50 pounds bill Egyptian pounds and not a 50 pounds piastre bill (=0.50 pounds). A popular trick!!
The employees were nice and courteous. The cleaning staff tried very hard and often asked if everything was all right.
You could get by with English. Apart from that it would be an advantage to know Russian. The staff often spoke fluently Russian.
Don't wait until the last day to get your passport back!!! We made the mistake and waited until check-out to get it back. But in the perfect Egyptian chaos they didn't find it anymore and we had to search for half an hour. We already saw the plan leaving without us.
The massageres who were looking for clients at the beach were pretty annoying, as they could get very pushy and walked around several times a day.
Gastronomy
They mainly served the same dishes everyday. They served different meat everyday, but I couldn't define what kind of meat it was. Some more variation would have been nice, but it was acceptable for one week.
Positive: At breakfast freshly scrambled eggs and crepes were served. Desserts were very good after each meal. The all inclusive drinks were served in 0.2l plastic cups. That was a little bit annoying but you could get several drinks at the same time.
Sport & Entertainment
The pool was clean, but it wasn't deeper than 1.5 meters.
Sport activities were offered on the beach at extra cost. But I didn't use that and so I can't comment on that.
In the evening there was often a belly dancing show, but it wasn't worth seeing.
Apart from that there wasn't anything going on, but for relaxation it was perfect!!
Room
We got one of the old bungalows. But it was okay. The bathroom took a little getting used to at first, but if you didn't touch anything you absolutely had to, it was okay. I think it wasn't bad by Egyptian standards.
The beds were good. Towels got changed when they were dirty.
We received two international channels. But you don't go to Egypt to watch tv.
Very quiet.
Tips and recommendations
Don't eat salad or other washed food. It is recommenable to take schnaps with you. If you take a sip after every meal you won't be bothered by diarrhea. Cell phone signal was very good. Don't let the street sellers pester you or rip you off and just walk past them.
