Carol and John 2009 - virgins to Lanzarote
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AHotel is based on three semi circles over looking their own pools. There is also a 4th building to the side of the hotel - "avoid this building if possible" - a very bad smell and noise comes from the water recycling units - this is very unpleasant. Noise was so bad at night we requested a room change - this took 4 days!!!! To my surprise hotel was very clean and food choice at the buffet was excellent, this really helped overcome the unpleasant smell and noise outside our room.
Location
The hotel is located very close to the old marina in Playa Blanca and it was a very nice walk along the front the hotel to the marina and shops. We hired a car during our stay so we did not use the public transport. For beach lovers the hotel has a small sanded area over looking the see at the front of the hotel or if you prefer there is a beack about 100 yards from the hotel. You will not be stuck for choice based on your preference.
All staff were very friendly and showed a real willingness to help. The only problem we had was based on a room change which took 4 days for them to meet our request - our holiday only lasted 7 days!!!! However, when making our complaint it was very pleasing to see them right it down rather than do nothing about it.
Gastronomy
The food in the hotel was definitely not 3* - more like 4*. I would normally always book 4* or above and was a little nervous going to a 3* hotel. I did read the reviews prior to travelling and the hotel did receive good reports. I was very pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel in terms of cleanliness and food choice. Selection for "All Inclusive" at the pool side bar could be improved. Only sandwiches and cakes availabel between certain times.
Sport & Entertainment
Entertainment team were excellent - they all work very hard - led by "Ducky" and his wife "Sol". We participated in many of the activities provided by the entertainment team. This really helped make our holiday very enjoyable. - EXCELLENT JOB.
Room
Rooms had no air conditioning but due to the winds this was not a major problem, would have been nice but not a real issue. Each room has its own fridge which we found handy. Rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels. Building 4 is beside the water treatment unit which has a very unpleasant smell and noise. Beds are not the most comfortable but ok for a 3* hotel. Would have been nice to have a double bed instead of 2 singles particularly for couples but again not a real issue.
Tips and recommendations
Do not use the internet in the hotel it is very costly instead there is an internet shop in front of the hotel that is much cheaper. First time to Lanzarote and would definitely go back. Hotel is perfect for families with children - entertainment team cater for all ages.
