Good service but the food not
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AWe have spent christmas in Dahabeya Hotel this year and just returned back home. Hotel is quite big, safe and well maintained. Cleanliness in general is OK, we had some ants in room. We took all inclusive offer, which was OK, but sometimes boring. The internet is expensive, slow and isn't working in most of the rooms.
Location
Location of hotel is perfect. Near center of Dahab (4 km ... or 5 min taxi drive). It has it's own diving center, spa (ok, that isn't spa) and stores.
Service is OK, staff is really kind and professional. The most of the staff works like 12-14 hours per day, that is not human in any way.
Gastronomy
Well stomach isn't satisfied as it should be. In all incluse offer food was very boring. 90 percent of food was the same every day, always the same rice, chicken, breat, pasta, salat and driiinks. So we had to take few lunches outside in the city (Shark restaurant is good!).
None of the bottled drinks in hotel were included in all inclusive offer. Only local alcoholic drinks were included in AI - beer that is more water than a beer and brandy (and vodka, gin ...) that tastes like toothpaste.
We would rather see more outside barbecue, some fresh fish, fresh calamari, fresh juices ...
Less and better rather than Lots but poor.
Sport & Entertainment
Own diving center - Sub Aqua dive center. Volleyball, and basic sports for free. Windsurfing center and other water sports at the beach. Sunbeds are on the beach for free, bar on the beach is practical. The water in the nearby swimming pool was too cold. SPA is VERY basic, you can't get any privacy in jacuzzi.
Room
Clean, with some mosquitoes and ants problems, but that goes with Egypt.
TV is small, non LCD, with some basic channels, but enough for our needs. Balcony is OK, but remember not to stay outside at 5PM when hotel staff is spraying to kill the mosquitos.
Tips and recommendations
Have a room with pool view but not on the ground floor (if you want privacy).
