Superb designhotel on a nice beach
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AExtraordinary stylish architecture, the rooms are all great, the restaurants offer a variety of different food for reasonable prices in a 5 star hotel. Check out the happy hours in the rebat and tonkha bar as well as on the beach! The 3 pools are hidden in the lush gardens and offer different interesting atmospheres, however, we went predominantly to the beach club which was clean, water was just perfect and much better than on all the photos we saw. Many restaurants on the beach. Must have are the smoothies at the beach stands for just 2 eur. The Gym was the best equipped I have seen in a long time, tennis courts ok, kayak is great but costs 300 bhat per hour.
Location
Superb publc beach and very clean beach club. You can eat ok thai food and drink for little money at the restaurants, however the wagyu beef burger from the hotel is unbeatable. The bars also in the hotel and in the beacj closed already at 11pm o which was a bit too early we found.
We did the phiphi island tour from hotel whivh was better than those from the beach offers, its worth the price. Also did the eco tour, very nice but a bit expensive.
The closeness to the aiport is more convenient than anything else-the noise from the planes is hardly remarkable which is astonishing.
Nice staff as everywhere in thailand. It is adequate to leave 100 to 200 bhat every other day or twice a week for the morning and evening cleaning ladies on the bed.
Gastronomy
It was the first time that we tried hotel restaurants more than once or twice. The food is excellent everywhere in the hotel, the drinks great. Prices are reasonable, and you can always eat cheaper outside. So it was a perfect mix. Rebar again has a superb design, but was deserted most of the time except for happy hour. There are many couples and young families, so dont expect party time.
We did not do the beach grill or thematic nights but went to the black ginger restaurant which is a must see!
Sport & Entertainment
Best equipped hotel gym i have seen. Technogym cardio, everything you need for weightlifting, fit balls, etc. Great competent staff. Obviously the guests appreciate because it was well frequented but never too crowded. Tennis courts are ok, you can book whenever you want, and we always managed to play when we wanted to. they charge 200 bhat for the raquets, which is not so cool. You can play with a pro who must have been good because he was well booked! At the beach try out the new kayak!
Room
We had the private pool suite which was nice, but we would rather go for premium pearl or d buk. You have a nice little pool but no view and feel a bit cornered between two grey walls. Nite that there are no rooms with seaview, this is because of the immense park which is fantanstic. Rooms are a nice example of comfortable and warm industrial design. Really great!
Tips and recommendations
Weather in jan was a mixture of sun and rain, but you need the change otherwise it is too hot. It rained mostly only in the evening anyway. It is less rainy than koh samui.
We thought the the price/value was absolute ok. No rip off like in other hotels.
