Spartan, yet German
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A ANot a very big building, but quite old and it shows its age almost everywhere...
The central heating was functioning, yet it was a bit frisky in the room (at about 5 degr. Celsius outside, during the night).
Good for young travellers; there were also a few older people.
Location
You're in Vienna. No more than half hour away of some of the world's greatest museums and monuments. If you don't find opportunities to make excursions... you're never get them!
About 1. 5 hours to Schwechat International airport / 5 minutes walking distance to bus/metro stations.
Here comes the "mixed" part: during our stay, there were two people at the reception of the hostel - a lady and a man. The lady was during the day (also when we arrived). She spoke english very well, she was eager to give us all the information requested, plans, maps.
During the night, there was that man. I can't tell why, but I think that this was not the right job for him. When we returned from town, he almost gave us a wrong key, even after I told him our room number both in german AND in english... During the night, there was a very loud bunch of drunkards who were making a lot of noise; he must have heard them too, but did nothing to stop them. I was on the edge of calling the police! lucky them because there were no phones in the room (no TV either!).
Gastronomy
Breakfast only. But quite good, fresh food. Continental buffet. Clean place. No objection at all.
Sport & Entertainment not available
Room
Large room with two good beds. The WC was separated of the lavatory and shower room, which is a good thing in my opinion, as you can take turns using them, not queuing! There is also a large balcony where you can stay if the weather is fine. No TV, no phone in the room.
Everything was bright-clean: beds, sheets, towels... Not noisy from the outside (not much traffic around the hostel), but it turned out to be a torture room if there are noisy neighbors... :(
