Review of Hotel Kristall in Grossarl, Austria
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AA beautiful, clean, spacious hotel, decorated everywhere to look welcoming and attractive. Freindly, helpful staff who do everything to try to make a visit pleaureable. Every facility you can think of provided. The ski boot warmers are very welcome. Ski service is provided overnight from the hotel. The staff are charming, dressed in traditional style and showing the best of old fashioned courtesy.
Location
Located directly in front of the nursery slopes and within easy walking distance of the main ski slopes and the ski gondoler. Situated about 45 minutes drive from Salzburg airport . There is no easy public transport from the airport but the local taxi services are reasonable price and reliable.
Always very helpful. The owner translated the menu each night specifically for us as we speak very little German. He also helped make travel arrangements that required soneone to speak German. All the hotel staff tried their best to tell us everythin in English and were patient and good natured when we tried to speak German.
Gastronomy
Excellent food, and lots of it! Each meal included a great variety of freshly prepared food. As a vegetarian it is somtimes difficult in Hotels, but the spread provided each evening at the Kristall always provided me with ample choice.
Sport & Entertainment
There is no swimming pool, but there is a sauna and steam room, with a masseuse visiting each day. There is no disco ( an advantage for us!) but there is a childrens play area and free internet access.
Room
The rooms are large and well decorated. Towels and bathrobes are provided, with fresh towels provided for use in the sauna. I think all rooms have a balcony. There is a safe provided and a hairdryer, a television, telephone and an internet point. There is no minibar but there is a bar downstairs
Tips and recommendations
I have only been in Winter, having visited in 2007 and 2009, but it is a very beautiful area in the snow
