Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel was according to my information thoroughly renovated and expanded a few years ago. Everything was very clean.
Location
The hotel was located in the center of the village of Niederolang. In the center there wasn't exactly a lot of action, as this was also the only hotel in the village, it was a very still location, no traffic, no noise, absolute peace, except for the church bells, which with closed windows were unheard, or hardly at all. I heard the bells only Sunday mornings, but they couldn't wake my husband.
I could only say: Super. All were very friendly and courteous. In the dining room Vera and Livia served us more than well (friendly they mostly asked if everything was in order and if we wanted seconds). Also the chefs were very sympathetic and friendly at the buffet evenings.
Gastronomy
Unfortunately I couldn't give 7 suns here, because they deserved all of them. The breakfast was adequate and had everything one would expect, different fresh breads, jams, various honey, meat, corn flakes and cereals (here there could be more choice, as I enjoy granola) boiled eggs. There were scrambled eggs and fried eggs to order (for an extra charge). Dinners were always the best: After the fresh salad buffet there was a cold appetizer, then we had the choice between a soup and a (for Italy typical) warm appetizer, for the main course 2 choices, and if neither were passable, the breakfast waitress took orders for something different. There were tasty desserts after the main course, which I usually skipped, since I had finished eating all the previous delicious food. High culinary enjoyment were the warm buffets (once Italian + once southern tiroler). The closing evening there was a gala dinner, a 6 course menu, in which the cooks (who we already thanked at the buffet) which surpassed in each course, just gourmet level. The wine list offered so much, but we preferred the wine recommendations of the menus.
Sport & Entertainment
Ski bus (free) directly in front of the entrance to the ski basement, not one step more. The bus took 10 -11 minutes to the valley station of the ski area, but we always had a seat, but the tourists from the rest of the hotels on the ski bus route often had to stand. The sauna landscape in the hotel was on the small side, but perfectly ok, even though the hotel was fully booked. There was no swimming pool, but I would give Hotel Kronplatz most likely 4 * hotel at a higher price.
Room
We had a room (type Dolomites) in the new building....just best: Large, bright with a beautiful view - the bathroom was exceptionally large was the bathroom (with a lot of counter space for cosmetics etc. ) - Everything was very clean.
Tips and recommendations
Price-performance ratio was more than very good, could almost talk of a bargain. Snow conditions on the Kronplatz were also great for the second half of March, only in the afternoon one shouldn't go to the Olanger valley station, except with the gondola. Other than that, we only had sunshine. We will surely repeat this holiday, at Kronplatz and in the Hotel Kronplatz!
