Hotel Tour d'Ai
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AAn excellent hotel, spotlessly clean, nice large room with a balcony with a breathtaking view of the mountains. The hotel dates from the turn of the century and there are great black and white photos of it in the lobby. The man in charge, Jean-Philippe, was very helpful and extremely kind and willing to do whatever he could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. He even brought breakfast up to our rooms so we could eat overlooking the view.
Location
The hotel is located in the village of Leysin, within five minutes' walking distance of all the conveniences. The little train takes you down the mountain in 30 minutes to the train station, and from there you can get to Geneva airport in an hour and a half.
Service was SUPERB. I would like to thank Jean-Philippe for his efficiency, competence, cheerful attitude, and warm welcome. The hotel is in excellent hands with him in charge.
Gastronomy
Very good except for the flies which I found quite annoying in the dining room. That is why I opted to have breakfast brought up to my room. The Swiss muesli was a real treat. Some of that marvellous creamy Swiss yogurt would be a welcome addition to the breakfast offerings.
Sport & Entertainment not available
This hotel is a small hotel lacking these type of facilities. But I did not miss them - I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of a small friendly village hotel!
Room
No air conditioning, but you don't need it. Better to open the windows and breathe the clean pure cool Swiss air. Room was large and comfortable with a balcony big enough for two chairs. There was a TV and nice big clean bathtub, but no phone in the room, which would have been convenient.
Tips and recommendations
Best time to go is in summer, when you can hike and enjoy the crisp clean air of the mountains.
