Hotel Lefteris

In the bay Marathias beach there was only apartments and private homes, not a big one. Nearby there were a few taverns. It's a 3 minute walk to the beach. Here we always free beach chairs for 5€/day. The beach is very open, more or less clean and quiet. Apart from a few small pebbles, it is only sandy beach. There are several Strandtavernen. Behind the hotel there were only 2 small markets. A good supermarket (Mamas ARGYRADES) located in the village (2 km. Away from Marathias toward Corfu). There is also a pharmacy, a bakery and other shops.

Rooms were cleaned every day except Fridays and Sundays. It was clean.

The breakfast was simple but sufficient. You get the same every day, but the orange juice wasn't after a Brausegetränk like some hotels in Greece, and the coffee was more than adequate. Lunch/dinner: The dishes from the map were good, highly recommended. Nearby there is still much more taverns, which are very good too.

It is in a very quiet location. You could rent boats, other water sports on the beach when we were there. volleyball net on the beach.

Placed in the neighboring building (taverna Dimitri's) roosters crowing waking up very early. But you can get used to it. There was a mini-kitchen and a (free) air conditioning. No TV.

Definitely take mosquito spray! There are tons of mosquitos in the night. If you only stay for the first few days enough cash with you since the tavernas not accept credit cards and the nearest ATM not close. If you like peace, relaxation, a great beach and Greek hospitality is the place. Greek or English to know is almost always unnecessary, because almost everyone there speaks German. If you want to explore the island: a car/scooter definitely required.
