Fantastic and relaxing!
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful! I had the Ayruvedic treatment package for 7 days and can highly recommend this hotel if you are looking at switching off, getting away from the main stream of tourists and looking to relax and unwind without a care in the world!
All meals were included in my price of €55 per night with treatments and 3 course meals were served. Any extras like their herbal teas and coffee were free. We did not have any soft drinks, I assume you will have to pay for these.
Sri Lanka seems to attract a whole lot of Germans, Swiss and Austrians, especially to this resort, I made some new friends and enjoyed their company throughout my stay!
Location
As can be expected, Sri Lanka is not a rich first world location. But the hotel is clean, offers good facilities and is clean. The staff are very helpful and will do their utmost to make you feel relaxed and meet your needs. What I found particularly good was the fact that the hotel does not sell liquor, you are allowed to bring in your own, but being a teetotaller, this did not affect me at all.
The drive from the airport to Wadduwa can take anything up to approx 3 hours - depending on traffic congestion from Colombo!
The hotel has a tuk tuk driver that will drive you around costs is a very reasonable 200 Sri Lankan Rupees.
The staff are very helpful, obliging and friendly.
The staff speak good English and German.
Rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels supplied daily.
Laundry is done and items are charged individually.
Gastronomy
Being a Ayruvedic treatment centre, the food caters for your health needs. They did offer a buffet which were ate from and was delicious.
This is not a 5 star hotel or Michelin star restaurant. Its good healthy vegetarian Sri Lankan dishes which I thoroughly enjoyed eating.
Sport & Entertainment
Fantastic pool and the sea on the other end of the garden - what more could one ask for!
Room
Nice room with a comfortable bed and mosquito net. Basic bathroom with toilet, washbasin and shower. Cleaned daily. Again, this is not a 5 star hotel but the facilities they have are more than adequate and I was not disappointed at all.
Tips and recommendations
If you are going for the ayruvedic treatment, take along a spare set of shorts/underpants that you don't mind getting all oily as you may want to throw them away afterwards!
I thoroughly enjoyed this resort and will be booking my holiday to Sri Lanka again at this resort for 2-3 weeks in 2011, 1 week ayruvedic treatments and 1 or 2 weeks of travel around Sri Lanka.
I did not switch on my mobile phone at all as I wanted to retreat for 1 week and have some peace and quiet. Others with me had their mobile phones on and had no issues with reception.
