Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AComfort hotel with 127 renovated rooms, tastefully furnished. The whole furnishing was very appealing and stylish. A clean hotel with breakfast or half board on offer. At our time there were German, British, Scandinavian and Spanish guests there. Age: 20 - 80 years.
Location
The area was located in Can Pastilla on the Cala Estancia. 10 minutes away from the airport (bus line 21 for 1.25 Euros per person, taxi about 15 Euros). The hotel was located roughly between Palma and Playa de Palma/El Aernal. Both were either to be reached with a longish walk or with the bicycle (well built stretch which led along the ocean to Palma) or with the midget railway (too expensive but if you like it).
From and to Palma you used the bus lines 15 and 30.
In town there were loads of bars, supermarkets, souvenir stores, bike and car hire, restaurants and cafes.
Sadly the hotel was located next to the flight path. But it could also be exciting watching the arriving and departing aircraft. At 7 a.m. in the morning it took some getting used to though. Because of that small reduction for the location. Sleep was guaranteed though.
The next great beach (about 5 minutes away) you reached to the left out of the hotel along the promenade. Beach chairs and umbrellas for a charge.
Already at arrival we were graciously and humorously greeted. Because the first impression is often decisive that was very pleasant. The whole staff never mind if in the restaurant, bar, room, reception were really very friendly and obliging without beeing pushy. You got along with the German as well the the English language, a bit of Spanish was immediately honored. The room were cleaned well every day and the towels were changed.
Gastronomy
There was a restaurant, a bar and the pool/snackbar. The buffets were not too extensive but for every taste something was there. Instead of quantity quality counted (Thursdays was Gala dinner, don't miss!). The service staff were noticeably friendly and obliging which helped to make a dinner good.
The pool/snackbar also offered dishes for moderate prices.
Small tip: don't wear too light clothes for dinner because the air conditioning worked astoundingly well ;-)
Sport & Entertainment
The pool area seemed to be a bit small on the first impression but it was completely enough.
Comfortable beach chairs, umbrellas as well as beach towels were available free of charge. A small Jacuzzi (up to 4 people) could also be used (cozily warm).
A free internet access was available at reception.
Room
Appealing, clean bathroom, big enough with a partial or direct view of the ocean (all with balcony). Bathroom with bath tub! Flatscreen TV (sadly only 3 German channels), air conditioning, telephone and minibar (keys were available at reception). A hire safe was available for 3 Euros per day.
Tips and recommendations
Cigarettes (4 cartons of Spanish cigarettes allowed per person, stand: 12th of October 2009) should be bought in town. At the airport they cost 34.50 Euros in the tobacco store about 30 Euros. In Can Pastilla wer can recommend the bar "Buckingham Palace" as well as the "Flip Flop". Both offered tasty dishes and drinks and you were welcomed graciously.
