The hotel was situated in a jungle scenery directly at the beach. The hotel had 90 bungalows joined together with a footbridge. During our stay, there were mainly younger people in the hotel, mainly German guests and a few Russian guests.

Location
5.0
Suns

The hotel was situated directly on a slope at the beach which was directly accesible over a footbridge. Unfortunately, the beach chairs didn't belong to the hotel, you had to pay 200 baht a day (is that adecuate for a 5 star hotel?). There were no shopping and entertainment possibilities in the hotel, but there were numerous stores and bars at the street in front of the hotel.

Service

Suns

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the only exceptions were the servers in the restaurant Sala Thai. Depending on the time, they seemed to be in a bad mood, although the restaurant was only half-full.

Gastronomy
1.0
Suns

During our 2 weeks stay, only the Sala Thai restaurant was open. The On the Rocks restaurant was closed for renovation, due to that there was sometimes contruction noise during the day.
The breakfast was disappointing for a 5* hotel, the same things were offered every morning. There was no cold sausage, ham and eggs were only served if you ordered that. When you had ordered an egg, it always only came after you were done with breakfast, respectively they usually brought the wrong one. Bread, cakes, pastries, fruits, jam, yoghurt and the warm dishes were the same ones every day.
The dinner wasn't up to scratch either. We had a 5 course menu and all 5 courses were brought at the same time and were already cold. That was the worst food that we ate during the 2 weeks in Thailand. We talked to other tourists and they were of the same mind.

Sport & Entertainment
3.0
Suns

There were no sports possibilities or entertainment. The 3 announced pools were very small, if 10 people were in them, the 3 pools were already overcrowded. Therefore we spent most of the time at the beach. The water and the beach were clean (except after rain or storm). There were no showers at the beach, but on the way to the room, there was a shower in the hotel (recommendable to put shoes on, because otherwise your feet got full of tar). After the shower the staff was always very helpful and cleaned the feet and the shoes with household remedies.

Room
6.0
Suns

The best thing of the hotel were the rooms, they deserved all 5 stars. We lived in a room with sea view, the balcony was to the ocean. The rooms were furnished in Thai style; internet access, I-Tunes and I-Movies (about 50 movies) were for free. The bathroom was very big and had a bathtub, a separate shower and a separate toilet. The care products were refilled every day. We felt really very comfortable in the room.

Tips and recommendations

We expected more from the hotel since Meiers announced it as a 5* hotel and it got very good reviews here. We've been to Thailand for the 3rd time and were really disappointed from our hotel for the 1st time. If they would have sold us the hotel as a 3* or 4* hotel, we would have traveled there with other expectations. We noticed hardly anything of the rainy season, it only rained at 2 days, otherwise we had good weather during the day. Recommendation: When you go out of the hotel, down the street about 500 m, you reach 6-7 local restaurants on the right roadside, there you could eat very well, inexpensively and typically Thai (in the hotel, you paid 3 times more for the same food and it wasn't that good by far).
