Here you pay for the central location
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Nordic Hotel is centrally located directly opposite the central station of Stockholm. From inside all looks new and modern. The foyer is dominated visually by a magnificent large aquarium with a large variety of exotic fish. Around the aquarium there are many nice seating options.
The hotel is used mainly by business people of all nations. This is obviously because of the large conference area on the first floor. When choosing one of the room, you will be faced with the difficult question of whether to book an expensive room with window or a room without window (but it should be light in there :)) wich is nearly as expensive ( 20 Euro less).
After all, a breakfast is included in the rate of around 200 € .
But be carefull to arrive before 2 pm: otherwise you have to book an additional upgrade of 200 SKR to get into your room- ... money makes the world go round ...
Location
You can not find a more central locatet Hotel in Stockholm than the Nordic Sea.
If you arrive by plane, uses the Arlanda Express train and stop directly in front of the hotel entrance. On foot you will reach the beautiful shopping streets and all the major sights easily.
The staff at the reception upon arrival has already experienced friendly. But do not expect to much attention and kindness if you are here the first time: The way to the elevators or the convention center you have to ask for yourself. If you pay extra, you also get extra services, for example to get into your room before 2 pm. Very profit oriented processing.
Quite different, however, the cleaning staff: when you get out of the elevator into the labyrinth of corridors trying to find the right way to your room, the cleaning staff, they speak to you diekt and even shows you the direction to your room. Moreover, the rooms are in a really good clean condition.
Gastronomy
This assessment must be divided into two parts: the breakfast and the restaurant /bar
Breakfast in the Nordic is just average. The restaurant consists of one large room, which is not further separated. Although it is relatively large, especially not for breakfast, so you have to go out and find a place. You have to schedule a short waiting time and if you travel in a group, you will have problems to find a common table. The tables are not covered, and the guests have to prepare everything theirself. The food is not very diverse. There are some cereals, bread, and some varieties of sausage and cheese, but for a 4 * hotel, breakfast is poor.
On the other hand eating à la carte: Not particularly cheap, but is of good quality, the dinner menu. Followed by a drink from the limited selection at the bar is OK and for a 4 * hotel in Scandinavia is not too expensive.
Sport & Entertainment
Guests of the Nordic can use a gym at a fitness center which is situated in a opposite building.
Room
Expensive but small: These rooms are quite remarkable in different ways: I fortunately booked a room with ( ! ) Window. It was the to the courtyard and was quiet. The rooms are small. However, the bathroom is still smaller. I've never seen a bath in which you have installed extra small toilets for not to protrude too far into the room. The shower, however, is separated by a large glass wall and pleasantly spacious. For me who unfortunally has not so full of hair no more, the low water pressure of shower was also sufficient. But if you have a lion's mane, you should allow extra time for a shower.
Bathroom and rooms are very modern, but if one interprets modern with to put laminate on the floor, this causes a cool atmosphaere and has an unpleasant sound. You better should carry your slippers.
The person who has planned that kind of hotelroom, has nebver slept in here here obviously: If you want to throw in her comfortable bed and switch of the light so you have to get up again and go to the light switch at the door. Near to the bed you will find no way to turn off.
Tips and recommendations
If you like to drink vodka like the swedes do in the polar region, you can visit the icebar in the 1st floor. Everything is made out of ice. But you have to pay the tremendous entrance fee which includes one small vodka and a blanket.
