My absolute favorite hotel *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe outrigger Keauhou beach hotel is located south of Kailua-Kona along the coast. The hotel is surrounded by three holy sites (Heiau's). You feel particularly obliged to the cultural heritage. It is a cultural program offered every day such as a Hawaiian language class, Lei making, hula dancing etc. we have not used. North of the hotel is the Kahalu'u beach park. The beach is small and black and it is quite stony and flat, so nothing for swimmer. The attraction of the Kahalu'u beach park is the underwater world. Reviewer's opinion, the Bay is well protected reef and great for snorkeling. We were 14 years ago in this hotel and booked it because of the great snorkeling Bay again. In contrast to 14 years ago (in November) there is more sea turtles there. You paddle very bold between snorkellers. Fish, there are still very many. The Bay is a piece of cake. At noon, if a bit more wind, the view is somewhat cloudy. On-site volunteers in use, the visitors, not on the corals and nothing touch.
The hotel has commodious room. We had received a free upgrade to a superior room. Everything was clean and in order. Shampoo, body lotion etc. were served daily. We had an old tube tv and safe with a key. Hair dryer, as well as a coffee maker were also available. The hotel has a small pool and a small fitness room, which was big enough for all muscle groups to work out.
The breakfast is included in the price. It was everything there, which one needs. There was a good Kona coffee! The breakfast restaurant is open-air and one had to be careful, that the female birds from the plates Peck.
At the bar are 09:00 pm until drinks, until 10:00 pm at the weekends.
In the evening, the restaurant was closed. We noticed overall, that on all the islands relatively little was going on. These are the effects of the current economic crisis.
When the sun goes down, you have a wonderful view from the bar. At this time also watch the sea turtles, the lava-stones lying off the last soak up the sun.
The outrigger Keauhou beach hotel was extremely well-designed for wheelchair users. Everywhere there are ramps, allowing for a barrier-free access to all areas of the hotel.
