The 'Dos Reis Catolicos hostal' is a very special place-it is one of the oldest and most prestigious hotels in the world. It was already around 1500 as a hospice for pilgrims next to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela of the Catholic kings, and is now a posh. The complex consists of several wings, the courtyards with cross courses group- the rooms are geared to the farms, so no road noise disturbs. The hotel has very nice rooms company. You should definitely visit the restaurant in the basement 'Dos Reis', that is characterised by a stylish traditional ambience and which is an excellent dishes from the Galician cuisine. Adjoining at the hotel there is a state-of-the-art glazed pavilion, which especially in the late afternoon the facade of the cathedral can admire. The rooms are with nice old furniture equipped. We had booked-before a trip through Galicia-for two nights in a standard room and then a so-called 'unique room' (San Lucas number 124). The higher price was not justified, the standard room was almost equivalent, the particular room even a bit musty and could hardly be aired.
