Relaxing days at a very nice hotel & resort
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AI was doing some major research on hotels on Punta Cana. I found mostly all inclusive hotels that are very expensive or run down with bad reviews. I finally picked “The Puntacana Hotel&Resort” because it offered reasonable rates and it was recently refurbished. The hotel is only 10 minutes away from the Punta Cana airport and easily reached by taxi for $10. When I arrived I found the hotel in perfect fresh shape and the hotel looked exactly like the online pictures.
Location
The Hotel&Resort is directly at the beach and only 10 minutes away from the airport PUJ. Several shuttles are available to a new shopping area near by.
The hotel offers a typical 5* service and the staff is friendly. Small problems were solved by management immediately. Mrs Yajaira Sosa is the quality manager and takes her job very seriously.

There are several restaurants on the premises but mostly people eat at the Italian restaurant next to the main pool. The prices are reasonable but more on the higher end. Unfortunately I did not find any daily specials on the menu except the fish of the day.
Sport & Entertainment
There are some daily activities at the pool area which I did not use. SPA treatments are offered as well which I found to be very highly priced. During my stay I did not see many kids but from what I know there is a playground for kids with nursery.
Room
I believe the hotel underwent a complete renovation in 2009. The rooms are very clean with fresh colors. All rooms have A/C, flat screen TVs with 100 channels, coffee makers, safe, telephone, … The towels are very thick and big and the bathrooms have all amenities you need.
Tips and recommendations
Free WiFi at the lobby, pool area and restaurant! The hotel is definatly trying to make your stay an enjoyable one...
