The worst thing was to leave
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AHuge and beautiful main building from outside and from inside either. To get better room is recommanded to give some tip after arrival at the reception(20-50$). You'll get room also without it and if you are lucky, you'll be satisfied too. Taking in account the big size it was a wonder they could keep it relatively clean. Sometimes I had a feeling there are more people making the servis(cleaning ,cooking, careing for the plants etc) than guests.
Location
Good location but it will be better after the other resorts around will be finished. There will be more possibilities to walk around and for shopping. Hurghada is cca 20 km, we've visited it for shopping 2 years ago from Makady Bay. Thank you it was enough. We've found ,the city is quite dirty and the sellers in the shops too violent and huffish ,if you don't buy in their shops.
You must understand one thing. To give and get tip in this part of the world is absolutely common and normal. If you understand this and you are not envious to give a dollar sometimes to the cleaning man or to the waiters etc, you loose not too much but for them it is a big help and they will be very thankful...I must remark, most of them are friendly and helpful also without getting a tip. I remeber,in Tunisia the cleaning personal and waters often asked for tip or for some present , I never exerienced this here in Egypt. Knolidge of English or other languages is very poor at waters and cleaning personal, they know only a few words, better English you will find at the reception and in the shops. Room cleaning with towel statue was absolutely OK. They give you enough bottled water and toilette paper. We've had 3 special problems, first the safe deposit box was blocked, then once we've had more ants in the room and once the AC stopped to work. 20 minutes after reporting at the reception they came and solved the problem. I like the system of beach/pool towels for cards, but this is probably the same in all Egyptian beach resorts.

We attended only the biggest restaurant which was close to our room. We always couls find a place. Food is almost perfect. If I wanted I could also critisize ( the mixed salads were not very toothsome and the fishes were sometimes little bit too fat and without taste) but we could find always something very delicious food. I mostly tryed more of them. I liked very much the soups. I don't eat sweets, but the family could find every day some tasty cake. DRINKS: I liked their beer. I could drinkk it the whole day wihout getting drunk and without getting headache.Sometimes it was not enough cold. I don't like coctails, but some of them ,I tried, were interesting. Juices are cold enough but too sweet. From non alcoholic drinks I liked Fanta with soda. It was always cold enough. Pizza at the pool was also fine. The children liked it and the french fries either.
Sport & Entertainment
Maximum points for the Animation Team. They were the best from all we've seen in the last 10 years. We communicated mostly with the Egyptian guy, Fox and with the two russian girls;Sasha and Safira. They spoke good English and after having 3000 uninvited russian soldiers for 20 years in our small city it was finally a nice experience with russians. The AT invited you to several activities but without violance and we liked , when they came to talk with us. The evening shows were also abolutely OK. They tried to make intenational entertainment and humor, so everybody could enjoy the most of the scenes and games. A BIG MINUS for the microphone-amlifire-speaker trio. I don't know which of them was fault but the sound was mostly distorted, it was hard to understand what the DJ spoke.....SHOPPING: not very good because of the small number of shops. The prices are much higher(almost twice) than in Hurghada, or at the airport......Pool is perfect, very clean, water temerature OK. We liked also the see very much.Enough beds and shade everywhere. For diving you must walk 200 - 400 meters to the left and then cca 100-200 meters in the water until you can swim. But it is worth of it..
Room
I needed to give extra 40 dollars to get really good big family rooms in the main building ,close to everything (exept the see). We were two families. It was worth of the money I think. The extra beds for the children were not too comfortable. AC not too strong for freezing but enough to have comfortable temterature in the room Safe box is a good thing. You can use the phone to call the reception and from room to room. Cleaning man very nice and polite young man. He made his job perfectly, we asked him only for more bottled water and toilette paper.
Tips and recommendations
you don't need to change too much money cause you can pay with Euros and Dollars everywhere. I've changed 40 EUR and it was absolutely enough for the Tips and for some shoping. Don't be afraid to travel in July or August. We had no problem with the high temperature. OK It was mostly around 38 degrees, but mostly the wind blows and if it's not enough for you, you can jump in the pool or see avery 30 minutes to refresh yourself....You need shoes for the see, but you can get it in two of those shops and for relatively good price. We've got after a short fight three shoes for 27 dollars.
