Hotel RIU Palace Algarve

From Faro airport about 35km from the hotel. If you drive to 1 . Arriving time but you have to be careful because the signage is not always clear-cut. For people that is important: The Palace is NOT a pure beach hotel!! Even though it is spectacular in the 1 . row on the cliffs but to get to the beach needs that some time and partly effort. Over the already by others mentioned good foot bridge takes you at a small beach but NOT to the Praia da Falesia, not more than with some rock climb" at over the rocks and only at low tide. To the beach it is only accessible by a way you reached between the dropping people if you B and D of the hotel "Porto Bay Falesia" Sodium hypochlorite. The main road in the town or walk R.25de Abril to the local beach which was very beautiful, about 15 minutes. Along this road are also the usual small shops and bars. There are countless excursion possibilities, but you should rent a car.

The staff of the Palace is above all Skepticism. This already started with a friendly welcome at the reception (with a glass of champagne), there are several employees who speak German very well. The staff in the restaurant sparkles with a great occurs, they make you feel at ease from the first day. Room cleaning was top, no complaints. A laundry service is available at the hotel, also barber (with reasonable prices), Hertz car rental and a beauty and fitness center. A small kiosk completes the comfort.

The hotel offers a main restaurant (breakfast and dinner) with terrace, pool restaurant, snack bar, lobby - and Salon Bar. Very convenient - at dinner there were 2 meal times (18 and 8 p.m. ) and you get for the whole remain a personal table. Breakfast is free table. The food choice was very extensive, it is being repeated as good as nothing within a week, there are also several times a theme night. The buffet was prepared very apetizing, all look good. The salads crunchy and at the warm buffet nothing overcooked - who finds something to couldn't be helped. Also in the salon bar you can relax, several times a week there was good live piano music and other live performances. The rates are ok - beer 2.50, cocktails, long drinks 3.50 5.50 -7.50 -6.50.

The pool area deserves the full marks, absolutely clean and well maintained. But even though signs indicated that should have no reserving of sunbeds there is still some night watchman the it was just not be treated like royalty- terrible! There are even at 12 noon still enough beach chairs available ........ There's a pool chair cushions, beach towels are available for a towel card the levy at check-in. No activities as already mentioned - I enjoyed it. An Internet area was available but not too cheap - 10 min. 1 €!

The rooms were big enough, around 25 m². The beds are huge, almost 3m wide with good, firm mattresses. There's a small seating area with two armchairs and of course the standard equipment with TV (4 German channels - ARD, ZDF, RTL, SAT1), minibar, a large closet, safe, telephone, air conditioning, ceiling fan. On the balcony there were 2 beach chairs with a small coffee table, although plastic but so what - if you have to expect teak furniture in the 5 * high end properties with relevant prices. Spacious bathroom with hair dryer.

Definitely book rental car at home, it was locally simply too expensive. smallest car occasion R$170 - about 85 US 150 all inclusive, on site about €210 . Gasoline prices similar to D - Diesel R$170 - about 85 US 1.20, great about 45 euros - but everywhere just (highway not more expensive!! ) and during the week didn't changed once!! If you want to get to know the original Algarve should avoid Albufeira and must be hinterland drive there instead - there is a completely different world on only 20km away from the coast.
