Finally holiday - and even the right hotel! *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe hotel was recently furnished with a new spa area. If one had experienced that sauna, one wasn't easily thrilled anymore with other areas. Our daughter enjoyed the beautiful indoor pool every day, so that she was not in the least bored, when as often in this holiday period in the afternoon thunderstorms started. The hotel was family friendly furnished with a nice extensive outdoor area, game room and within the next year additionally the freshly planted lawn will be first ready for full use. Children up to about 7 years will be delighted with the offer now, older will prefer indoor pool pleasure instead, but of course there need parent's supervision. More than many parents wanted, older children had the playstation or the ping pong table - was unfortunately not free. During our holiday there were very many Italian families with small children in the hotel, so it was a little hard for the German-speaking child care at times to inform all children, but they went out of their way to help. We were especially happy of course, that almost "family addition" was possible since Sophie and Laura "as daughter of the hotel" refreshed their acquaintanceship from last year.
Location
The hotel was located on the road between Innichen - Sexten - Kreuzbergpass, so it could be a little noisy with the window open in the room facing the street. Since the rooms on the hillside location mostly faced toward Fischleintal valley, there was not the least street noise disturbance. The existing bus services we didn't use, but according to timetable there were enough available. It was ideal for us, directly from of the hotel to find several hiking possibilities for all "walking" problems and weather conditions, either relaxed in the Fischleintal valley or just with the cable car high up on the Helm or the Rotwandwiesen. If an excursion was taken by car, we thought the search for a parking space in the afternoon was less nice. Most tourists avoid obviously the additional cost of currently 8 euros per day for a place in the underground garage. Solutions for less parking place problems would be most welcome.
The owners and also the staff tried very hard always for all tourists and did their best, even for difficult tourists. Every employee spoke, if not native, enough German - and we assume in Italian too-, to understand every need. If really once - absolutely small - "complaints" arose, they were always friendly and cooperatively removed quickly.
Gastronomy
The restaurant was divided into two areas and offered upstairs another dining room. Salads, antipasti, fruit and cheese there were in self-service at the buffet, menu courses after selection were served. More than enough of everything - whatever the heart desired. Only a few times when we were late, it was tight for refills. We had half board, so all the delicious meals were inclusive. But also resident tourists, which booked overnight could also book with breakfast and dinner to be spoiled. It was good to exercise during the day, otherwise the scales punished at home after these enjoyable feasts.
Sport & Entertainment
The hotel offered once a week a hiking tour. If that was not enough, one could find something in the wide range of surrounding alpine schools. Internet access was available for an extra charge (€10 ) possible in the entrance hall, not in the rooms. Absolutely the sauna area was first class: Spacious place offers, bright light, four sauna areas - including a "panorama" sauna with a magnificent view of the mountains, infrared cabinet, various recreational facilities, inside and out, different teas and constantly hot water for free service. Just great and refreshing after a strenuous hike, climb! The indoor pool was very generous for a hotel area , and was thus very well accepted and had difficulties and came to its limits at least already on rainy afternoons . A bigger pool area with more optimal shower facility? At the expense of the very generous sauna or better still the more generous "beauty center"? In hindsight one was always wiser. The tourists decided through their acceptance of the wide variety of very attractive offers - and such deals made one fussy. In the Königswarte (across the street at the hotel over a yellow crossing ) there was a gym with some equipment, the offer must be good, was for us more for at home, where the mountains to play were missing and the next pool was not found in "bathrobe-distance".
Room
Our room was appealing furnished, very advantageous was the separate children's area with two beds, one was a bunk bed. Initially our daughter (9 years old)had trouble with the relatively narrow bed - this could be a little tight, if she keeps growing. Sometimes we wished evenings a couch instead of the chairs - after a movie sometimes the rear hurt :-). But whoever wanted could also watch TV from bed and in the distance. The room cleaning was absolutely best (the hand towels were changed even if they were on the drying rack for subsequent use, it was already a bit too much of a good thing). Our family room was above the garden, but there was the possibility to book also flats with garden entrance. The bathroom was furnished with a bathtub (with a separate shower), 2 sinks, bidet and toilet and loads of counter space for the many soap and "beauty" toiletries, which one gathered and even couldn't do without on holiday.
Tips and recommendations
The hotel was not one of the cheapest but the price-performance ratio was right. One would be pleased if it were affordable with children. Not changeable and not possible to please all - the weather. Also in this year more rain and storms than for our taste, who wanted less must travel to Merano and surrounding area for holidays - but without the Fischleintal valley, the mountains of the Sextener Sonnenuhr, the 3 Zinnen......
