Good value for the price; location very good. *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AFunctional hotel, 12 floors. Clean, not in top condition but construction and furniture ok. 2 Free Internetrechner with printer. Bed and breakfast. International, colorful mixed clientele, rather 30 upwards. I found it, compared with the standards of Manhattan, reasonably quiet. Smoking rooms available.
Location
Very good location between Midtown and Lower east side. Bus stops in front of the door, subway 2 blocks (5 minutes) away, direct link to the Guggenheim, Metropolitan Museum, Chinatown, the East Village, and much more. Shopping possibilities and catering (ample selection, in particular by 3. Avenue, 1 block away) available. There are rooms with direct view of the Empire State Building (10 minutes walk).
Staff was rather disinterested; language only English. Room cleaning was okay.
Gastronomy
There is a buffet breakfast simple American style. Coffee, donuts, pancakes, bagels, cereal, overall not very appealing. The dining room is windowless in the basement was often full. Good breakfast if you wanted to find something, nearly countless possibilities within walking distance.
Sport & Entertainment Unused
There is a fitness room (I didn't use).
Room
Relatively small, only 1 , also small (queen) bed. Otherwise ok. Coffee machine, and a Community ice machine. In-room safe. Nice TV. Telephone.
Tips and recommendations
If not booked before, the AAA membership card chance (probably not in the weekend Thursday-Sunday) on a discount; the "show your card" symbol is as membership in the US AAA AAA. Tip: Japanese restaurant Ichi Umi within walking distance (6 East 32nd Street), fantastic buffet with mainly sushi, fish and seafood in good quality for 24 $30 . A real low price. You can easily compose a 10 course meal. Reasonably priced drinks.
