French holiday in Spain *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AIt was a very clean and big hotel with a French entertainment programme mostly for kids.
The hotel rooms, all the public rooms, the pool and the whole area were very satisfying.
We'd booked half board; breakfast and dinner were appealing and offered a varying choice. There was something tasty every day. Even for half board, wine (bottles), water, Coke, Fanta and juices were included, which we found very generous.
But whoever wanted to get to know new people on holiday, just met families and couples here. 95% of the guests were French, therefore the main language was French.
Location
The beach was 600m away. The hotel was right next to a gas station and a hospital, so the location was wonderful ;) The next bars, restaurants and small beach shops were 400m away. But it wasn't a lot going on there, and there were no young people there either. The good bars, restaurants and discos were at the harbour. The bus drive there took 15min and cost 1.25€. There was a lot going on there, you could have nice dinners and tasty cocktails and enjoy the view of the boats at the harbour.
If you rented a car, you could drive across the island in one day and explore various attractions, beaches and landscapes. That's highly recommended!
The friendliness of the staff was null, especially at the reception. We couldn't expect a smile, let alone being asked if we were satisfied. Most staff in this hotel spoke French, some of them didn't even speak Spanish, let alone English. The room cleaning and the child care were great. Complaints were taken note of with a shake of the head, and then we were left alone. We really had to insist so that we could change the room, but then we were their enemies for the rest of our stay.
Gastronomy
There were 2 restaurants and 3 bars. The cocktails were disgusting, as well as the wine. The beer was OK. I've no complaints about the food quality. There was enough food available, and it was nicely decorated. It wasn't typical for the country, paella was offered only once. The service staff was friendly, but sometimes too fast and even too helpful. It could happen that our table got cleared while we were still chewing or even still had some food on our plates.
As mentioned above, some drinks were included even with half board. Tips were a foreign concept, or they were just kept by the particular staff members.
Sport & Entertainment
The entertainment program could only be enjoyed by people speaking French. There were no offers in English or Germans.
Lots of sports were offered (tennis, table tennis, mini golf, basketball, water polo, bowling, etc.).
The pool was very clean, and there were enough pool chairs available. Shade was provided by palm trees and umbrellas.
The beach was clean and provided clear water. However, there was no private section for the hotel guests.
Room
It wasn't very big, but clean. Air conditioning, a TV, a safe, a telephone and a balcony were available. The beds weren't saggy, but clean. Stains at the wall were removed without a word. The bathroom came with a bathtub, a toilet, a bidet, a large washbasin and a large mirror, even with makeup mirror. A small hair drier was available too.
Tips and recommendations
If you want to enjoy a French holiday in Spain without being treated too friendly - have fun!
