Great beach, good hotel *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A ABeautiful hotel resort. Clean and well-maintained. I don't recommend the normal rooms. But the Cottages are nice. There are approx. 175 Cottages.
All inclusive of course includes meals and drinks, including alcohol.
Snorkelling at a beautiful reef is included too.
Mainly English guests. Of course, some of them had tattoos and wore football strips. There were also Canadians and Americans. Dutch people who don't want to miss out on their luxuries during their holiday. We didn't particularly like the trading of illegal gods.
Location
The beach is great. Around the hotel there is very little to do (like almost everywhere on Jamaica)
From the airport Montego Bay it takes approx. 75 minutes depending on the traffic. Excursions can be booked in the hotel. For example: Dunns River Falls for 38 USD including the entrance fee.
The service was unfortunately not up to the 3 star standard that we're used to. The staff were nice, but not particularly attentive. Likewise, the entertainment team sometimes improvised.
If they had ordered 5 of the same cocktail with 5 different barmen, they received 5 different cocktails. These were nearly all very good and it was always exciting to see and taste the next cocktail.
Gastronomy
There was very good local cuisine. There are two restaurants open in the evening, in addition to the buffet. Unfortunately these were always fully booked. The buffet was delicious in the mornings, at lunchtimes and in the evenings.
Sport & Entertainment
There is an adult pool. This was really nice. The main pool had a visibly worse quality of water, so we didn't dare go in it. It was even closed for several days because of it.
The snorkelling was wonderful. Every day there was a tour to the coral reef.
The entertainment team were good, although they sometimes improvised.
At lunchtimes and in the evenings there was live local music at the pool bar. This was fantastic.
In the evenings you can lie in a hammock with a cocktail, look at the starry sky and listen to the gentle waves of the sea. If you don't like entertainment with shows in the evening, there are plenty of other things to do in the resort.
Room
The normal rooms are not recommended. Definitely book one of the Cottages. These are spacious, air-conditioned and are far enough away from neighbours.
Tips and recommendations
Don't miss the snorkelling. A guided mountain bike tour shows you sides of Jamaica which tourists don't normally see.
Please note that you can't do much on your own due to security reasons. You have to book tours. But these are sometimes really expensive.
