Dream hotel, total rest and relaxation! *
Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AThe Royal Heights Resort was by far the best and most beautiful hotel I had ever reserved. The hotel area was very large, and yet there were not many flats, perhaps about 20 flats, most with private swimming pool. Which meant: large area, few people! Ideal for people who want to take a relaxing holiday. Noticeable was also that there were no men's or women's groups, I only saw couples. It was also very positive that the hotel had free WIFI access.
Location
The hotel was located on a hill, outside the hotel area there was nothing. Therefore, we had ideal peace there, which was otherwise very difficult to find. In addition, there was fantastic view of Malia to enjoy. The beach was about 2-3 kms away. The hotel area was so beautiful that we were only on the beach two days.
Particularly positive to mention was the room cleaning. Everything was always very clean, all hand towels were replaced every day, whether used or not. The staff was very, very friendly, our every wish was met. For example, we were offered on our departure day, room service breakfast because we had to already leave at six in the morning to the airport. It must be said, however, that the staff also had it quite simple because there were only very nice and considerate tourists at this hotel.

The hotel had a pool bar, cafe, bar and a restaurant. We always ate dinner in the hotel restaurant evenings, we usually went out for lunch to the village Malia. The food was for a 5-star hotel very, very cheap, almost as expensive as the restaurants in Malia, which could not offer the same atmosphere. The food was always very good prepared nice and carefully. I would have only wished that the selection would be somewhat larger, because I'm rather more finicky.
Sport & Entertainment
There was no entertainment, and it would not be worthwhile. Because most villas had a private pool, during the day at the hotel pool there were very few people. For sport enthusiasts there was a modern gym room.
Room
We had an Ambassador Villa with private swimming pool. The rooms were super, on the top floor a beautiful bathroom and a large bedroom on the ground floor a kitchen, a slightly smaller bathroom and a large living room. For two people it was more than sufficient. The highlight was of course the pool in front of the terrace, just fantastic beautiful and very well kept! If you want to look for a needle in a haystack, I could only complain that we could only receive one German TV channel ZDF.
Tips and recommendations
The hotel was located as described above on a hill. Down to Malia it was ten minutes and to the beach about 20 minutes walk, however, the return was very, very hard, really very steep uphill. Because of that we rented a quad for the whole week (a type of motorcycle on four wheels). This was not only very practical, but also was a lot of fun driving around with it! It was also much cheaper than renting a car.
