Enlarge letters A A Downsize letters A AHotel area was directly on the street, but this location was barely disturbing. Construction site across the road, but it didn't bother us, it was quiet, we also have such things here.
Free Toyota shuttle bus service to 2 beaches every 45 minutes:
1st Khemer Beach = sandy beach with beach chairs and umbrellas in the immediate vicinity of the Old Market. Large bay hardly suitable to swim or go snorkeling. The boat traffic and nuisance from diesel smell at onshore wind.
But the beach was still relaxing. Pleasant atmosphere. Next-door was the 5* hotel Iberotel Palace with the diving school CFUN Divers. 2nd Fanara - reef, snorkeling possibilities. 3rd private beach, out of the hotel, to the left and then down the street oblique, to the right, walk about 1 kilometer. Admission: 25 Egyptian pounds = 3.50 €. It was said to be worth it, bringing food and drinks with you was forbidden.
Location
Fanara - reef: The beach was about 1 kilometer away, reachable well on foot, along the street always straight ahead, go down the steps to the right at the end. Ideal to go snorkeling! A journey with the taxi was possible for 10 Egyptian pounds, haggle correspondingly persistently. They asked for 40, 30, 20 pounds at least.
Moreover, a free hotel bus was available, see above... These bus drivers raced like crazy or sick people without any responsibility at carriage of passangers, up to 110 km/h and then immediately change to walking speed several times due to traffic calming ramps on the main streets. You could shop directly around the corner, but the Old Market was better. A shuttle also stopped there.
The friendliness was as you know it, the more bribe the better. Showing good a performance and giving tips then = no chance. You just had to give 5 or 10 pounds and see what happened. The room cleaning was so-so. The safe in the closet wasn't screwed on, so it was portable. No idea what that was for. Almost all of the service staff of the hotel had knowledges in Russian.
The tradesmen and the pool service staff were the most polite ones. The waiters were actually overtaxed professionally. They hardly listened to complaints. Dirty table - the answer: I should change the table. The plates were cleared away in record time, no matter if empty or full but it was rather funny than a reason to complain. The staff was definitely under stress.

The same things every day! But still sufficient if you were on a diet.
There weren't many drinks, I changed to lemon tea with honey, I avoided alcohol but the Russian guests drank lots of it. 90 % of the guests were Russian but very friendly and polite at a harmonious atmosphere.
Sport & Entertainment
Positive INTERNET hotel service!!! Free Wi-Fi access in the LOBBY if you took your own notebook with you or had a corresponding cell phone. Skype also worked very well.
The so-called DJ produced 3 hours of hip-hop or other music, Russian songs at the pool in the afternoon; the volume was annoying to me. No matter if the guest wanted it or not. That was probably no problem with enough vodka but I kept only drinking lemon tea and cappuccino, that one was more or less okay... The staff was quite stubborn, they insisted contrarily on their habits.
Everything went as they learned it. The service was different.
Room
Okay, quite large, safe in the closet, wasn't screwed on, the bathroom was dark.
Tips and recommendations
The hotel was recommended for people who travel a lot and tolerant guests, but only when you get it for a bargain price.
I avoid to give prices but my jounrey was actually much too expensive for the service I got.
Those who travel to Egypt for the first time should rather keep a distance and preferably take a hotel with its own beach because the beach was hardly accessible since everything will be built up. Most corals were destroyed, sometimes broken off too, the people walked around on the reef, unbelievable! I couldn't see a sewage plant and ask myself how the thousands of hotels disposed of...
The snorkelers saw more fishes than divers.
